油の大将
Tokyo, Kudanshita. There is a famous Japan Budokan known for its "big onion". That onion is officially called a "giboshi". I found out about this from looking at the menu here! There is no shop inside the Japan Budokan, so I stop by for a meal before events. The curry rice at "Restaurant Budokan" is 800 yen. Located next to the Japan Budokan, this place offers light meals, alcohol, and can also be used as a cafe. Upon entering the shop, you first place your order and pay. At the register, without much thought, all the dishes with photos looked brown, so I mistakenly thought they were all curry dishes. Hamburger curry, pork cutlet curry, chicken karaage curry, and the center menu was curry, so I made a mistake. If you look closely, there are also original menu items related to the Budokan, such as Budokan omelette rice and Giboshi pasta. After ordering and paying, I found a seat. The meal was served in less than 5 minutes. The set menu included salad and soup. The main curry dish looked thick and had visible carrots and onions. By the way, what kind of curry is this? Chicken, beef, pork. It is not specifically mentioned. The curry tasted familiar, similar to "retort curry". However, the ingredients such as onions and carrots had a good texture, so it was not a typical retort curry. The taste of the sauce was similar to retort curry, but the overall dish was enjoyable. The consomme soup also had crunchy onions, adding a nice touch. The portion was just right, about 80% full, which was suitable for enjoying an event at the Budokan. The curry itself had a "safe" flavor, not bad at all. In a way, it was satisfying!
