Yumean Fuchu Oshitatecho branch @ Fuchu City, Tokyo @ Family restaurant Located next to the car return housing complex on Shinagawa Street in Fuchu City, this is Yumean. I'm feeling a bit under the weather with a fever, and as forecasted, the blue sky in the morning has turned into a snowy downpour. There is a covered parking lot here, not far from my home, so I chose this place. It's been about a year and a half since my last visit on August 9, 2017. The parking lot is indeed covered, which is good, but there is no roof over the stairs to the second floor entrance! It's a bit of a distance to run, and the rain is really strong, so I had to go back to my car to get an umbrella. I wish they had at least put up a tent like other family restaurants. This restaurant offers a variety of fish set meals, tempura, udon, soba, chige, various salads, and side dishes such as oborodofu, steamed warm vegetables, and more. The rice options include multi-grain rice and small bowls with tempura, negitoro, crab, and dried young sardines. They even have eel rice bowls and cold noodles. Surprisingly, there are quite a few desserts, such as black sugar jelly, cheesecake, Hokkaido rich soft serve, matcha jelly soft serve, mango soft serve parfait, and tonight they had a seasonal strawberry parfait. Tonight, I opted for a warm udon. Just from January 24 to today, they are having a Winter Sparkle - Seafood, Beef Tongue, and Gourmet Udon Fair, offering 12 items including sea urchin, salmon roe, crab seafood bowl, beef tongue, miso stewed udon, sukiyaki, eel rice, and more. They all looked delicious, and I chose the miso stewed udon from here. My companion, who doesn't like sea urchin or salmon roe, went for the regular seafood bowl from the regular menu. Since this restaurant has a wide variety of appetizers, we added a small portion of fried chicken. Yumean Meal Set 1,099 Seafood Bowl and Warm Udon Set Miso Stewed Udon 999 Small Rice 149 Small Fried Chicken 149 The miso stewed udon had spinach, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, pork, fish cakes, raw egg, and surprisingly pumpkin like in houtou. It is simmered on a burner at the table, and the broth quickly boiled due to the strong heat. The surprising thing was that the udon noodles were delicious. It exceeded my expectations. The miso broth was also delicious, but the luxurious problem was that there was too much udon and ingredients, so the broth ran out quickly. The seafood bowl mainly featured shredded omelet with squid, sweet shrimp, snow crab, salmon roe, in a refreshing bowl. The small fried chicken, with a fun name, had one small piece each, totaling two pieces. It was crispy and juicy, and perfect for snacking. By the way, this restaurant has a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. There were groups of people drinking merrily in the back, which was set up like a private room. Everything was very delicious. Family restaurants these days are truly "not to be underestimated."
