Shinbashi Jinza is a place that recreates the authentic Sanuki udon from Kagawa at a reasonable price in the sacred land of salarymen, Shinbashi. The menu offers prices like 390 yen for plain udon, 450 yen for bukkake udon, 640 yen for curry udon, 700 yen for meat udon, and 620 yen for chiku-tama tempura udon. You can choose the size of your udon: medium for 1.5 servings for an extra 50 yen, large for 2 servings for an extra 100 yen, or special for 3 servings for an extra 200 yen. I purchased a ticket for the special cold meat udon (pork and chicken tempura) for 940 yen. The restaurant has around 40 seats at the counter and tables, with a bright and clean atmosphere. The large serving of cold meat udon arrived in a bowl the size of a washbasin, with three servings of noodles topped with pork and three pieces of chicken tempura, making for an impressive presentation. This is an udon restaurant near Uchisaiwaicho Station. It's within walking distance from Toranomon and Shimbashi, but a bit far. Around 2 PM, the restaurant was about 80% full. There was a line outside when I left, showing its popularity. I took a day off to visit this place, as it's only open on weekdays for lunch. I ordered the Special (cold) with extra noodles and the limited-time Tai Chikuwa Tempura. The Special comes with extra pork and three pieces of chicken tempura. It would be nice if the chicken tempura was served on a separate plate. The Tai Chikuwa Tempura that I added as a topping was served on a separate plate, which was appreciated. The taste was delicious. The chicken tempura still had its rich flavor, and the Tai Chikuwa Tempura had a delicate sweetness and umami. The udon was slightly firm, and those who prefer warm udon might enjoy the stretchiness of the noodles. Despite knowing this, I couldn't resist ordering cold udon. Regardless, Jinsan's udon is delicious. The way they enhance the broth without making it too strong is impressive. The restaurant aims to create udon that people would want to eat every day, and I can see why.

Special (pork, chicken tempura) served hot. 740 yen. It gets crowded during lunchtime, so I aimed for around 14:30 towards the end to avoid waiting in line. I chose the Special with pork and chicken tempura on top of Kagawa's udon noodles. The chicken tempura was juicy and delicious. Truly deserving of the name "Special."

I had been seeing a long line at lunchtime at this restaurant for a while, so I decided to finally try it and arrived at 11:30 am. Even at this time, there were about 5 people in line. However, by the time I left, there were about 20 people waiting, so I recommend going early if you plan to visit. As for the taste, the noodles had a nice firmness and smooth texture, and were very delicious! Even my colleague who said he couldn't really tell the taste of udon, said it was delicious. The curry also had a good level of spiciness and flavor, making it tasty. The price of 700 yen for a medium serving of kake udon and curry is quite reasonable in this area, and I now understand why there is always a long line.

Special pork and chicken tempura cold noodles for 740 yen with extra noodles for 100 yen. I like the thick and firm noodles. The soup is light with a hint of seafood broth. The portion size is just right. Arrived around 12:40 on a weekday, had to wait for about 4 people ahead of us, took about 5 minutes to get seated, and 3 minutes to be served.

After walking for about 10 minutes in the hot weather, I was planning to have sushi nearby, but to my surprise, the curtain was closed right in front of me... It was around 13:50. Once again, I found myself struggling to find lunch. Walking around under the scorching sun was tough, so I decided to jump into a nearby udon restaurant. There was a ticket machine next to the entrance, so I bought a ticket and then the staff assigned me a seat number once inside. They also brought me a basket for my belongings, which was very helpful. Water and other things were self-service. Since it was my first time there, I didn't know what to order, so I asked for the Taimaki Chikuwa Ontama Bukkake cold udon. It was served in a stylish bowl, and it looked beautiful. However, I didn't really like the udon itself as it was quite firm. I prefer smoother udon, even in the case of Sanuki udon. The broth and the Taimaki Chikuwa tempura were delicious, especially the Chikuwa tempura which I loved so much that I wanted to take some home. The overall flavor was good. They have a variety of options, so if you find something you like, it might be fun to become a regular. It was a refreshing meal in the hot weather. Thank you for the meal!

Jinzan-san after two months. I arrived at the shop a little after 2 pm on a weekday. It was a bit late, so there was no wait. I ordered the classic Special (cold) with pork and chicken tempura. The noodles had a good texture and the broth was delicious. Hm? Is the dried fish too strong today? I asked for extra black pepper halfway through. Maybe it was my own condition, but the broth seemed different this time. I gave it a score of 3.5 this time (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

Due to the heat, I ordered the meat and grated radish bukkake udon. The udon noodles were firm with a good chewy texture. Not being a big udon eater, I was impressed by the quality of the noodles. The pork was sweet and delicious. I added some condiments and tempura flakes from the table, enhancing the flavor even more. I was surprised by how well pepper complemented the dish. I had some business in Nishi-Shimbashi and decided to have a delicious lunch while I was there. Exploring lunch in the Shinbashi area. Today, on this hot and humid day, I decided to enjoy a refreshing and delicious meal here with the meat grated udon for 740 yen, with an additional medium portion for 50 yen. From Shinbashi Station, head towards Nishi-Shinbashi intersection, cross the intersection, and turn into the third one-way street where you will immediately see the restaurant. There is always a long line in front of the store, but today I decided to wait. I purchased my meal ticket from the machine, joined the line of about 15 people, and surprisingly, I was able to enter and sit down in about 15 minutes. The serving was quick, within 5 minutes of sitting down. The restaurant has a capacity for about 30-40 people, which explains the fast turnover. The presentation of the meat udon may not be visually appealing, but the dish consists of beautifully colored meat, grated daikon radish, grated ginger, and Sanuki udon underneath. I added some tempura flakes from the counter and sprinkled some chili pepper to customize my dish. The udon had a nice chewy texture, bursting with the flavor of wheat. The pork from SPF Hayashi was tender, sweet, and delicious. The daikon radish added a slight bitterness, complementing the sweetness of the pork, the crispy tempura flakes, the spicy ginger, and the chewy udon, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. It was gone in no time. The Shinbashi area is like a battlefield for Sanuki udon. Thank you for the meal.

I knew I had already had lunch at the hospital, but I decided to go in anyway since I wouldn't be able to eat anything other than hospital food afterwards. I am a strict judge when it comes to udon, being from Kagawa prefecture. I heard that this place was started by someone from Marukawa. The broth was from Marukawa, and it was delicious. It leans towards the salty side. The noodles have a good firmness and a nice bite to them, but I think they could be a bit chewier. The recommended black pepper and red pepper for flavor change might overshadow the goodness of the broth.
