Even though it's in the neighborhood, I hadn't visited before. I knew about the deliciousness because it's sometimes served at nearby restaurants. On a Sunday morning, I finally decided to go. Even though it was only 10 minutes after opening, there were already over 20 people in line. The shop is small, so they let one group in at a time. After waiting for 20 minutes, I finally got in. Here's what I bought: - Croissant (320 yen): Crispy and fragrant, with a buttery aroma and a hint of sweetness from the wheat. - Pain au Chocolat (360 yen): A bit of chocolate in the center. The large crust peels off elegantly. I thought there might be too little chocolate, but the taste is well balanced. - Anchovy and Cheese Bread (360 yen): Anchovies and cheese go well together. The bread has a subtle seaweed aroma. - Olive and Cheese Bread (250 yen): Small, with a pitted green olive inside. The texture of the bread is moist and chewy, almost like a canelé. - Black Bean and Kinako Bread (260 yen): Softly cooked black beans packed inside, with a fragrant kinako flavor. - Pomme (680 yen): "Apple tree" in French. Baked in various shapes resembling apple branches, with large apple slices peeking out. - Le Vinuron Rouge (750 yen): I had this before at a nearby restaurant. Red wine dough with walnuts, raisins, figs, cherries, and more mixed in. Deep and rich flavor as you chew. I bought 7 different kinds, all with unique personalities and of high quality. Among all the hard breads I've had, these are the best.

Today's stop was at a bakery called "Pan de Philosophe" in the trendy neighborhood of "Kagurazaka." The baguette was taken home, but the croissant was enjoyed right away and it was truly delicious. The location in the backstreets of Kagurazaka adds to its charm, but the prices are on the higher side. The name of the bakery apparently means "philosopher" in French, but overall, it didn't quite hit the mark for me like the first bakery in "Sanshuku." As of today, I would rate it 3.91, falling slightly below expectations.

In a stylish small shop located in a quaint residential area, about 15 people were lined up despite it being a weekday. The shop only allowed up to 2 people inside at a time, so I waited for about 30 minutes to place my order. The variety of bread was not extensive, but they all seemed to have a strong emphasis on simplicity and quality. I purchased the specialty croissant with added chocolate and a cheesy, chewy bread. Additionally, they were holding an event where you could receive a novelty cup if you spent over 3000 yen.

- Alphabet Baguette: The outer part has a firm texture from the kneading process, with slightly sharp edges that are crispy and fragrant. The inside is fluffy and chewy. It's delicious, and as you eat more, you realize how tasty it is. It's sweet and delicious enough on its own. - Croissant: From the moment I held it, I knew it was going to be amazing. A very crispy croissant. When you bite into it, you can hear the crunchiness. The inside is solid, not hollow. The first impression I got was the flavor of butter, not too greasy, just a really delicious croissant. It has a high level of completion, relying on the deliciousness of the wheat. - Palmier: It looks like a heart-shaped pie or biscuit. It has a crunchy texture, slightly sweet, and a tantalizing aroma of butter. - Pain au Chocolat: Since the croissant is delicious, the layered cross-section of the pain au chocolat is beautiful. Both sides are crispy. It's not too sweet, and the chocolate is subtle. The balance is perfect for savoring the flavor of the bread. - Asama Mountain Bread: It's a large and heavy bread with a substantial presence. It's slightly sweet and has a chewy texture. It becomes more flavorful as you eat it. It's just delicious, no other words needed. Overall, there is no flashiness or impact in appearance or taste. It's simply the best in its simplicity. It allows you to taste the natural goodness of the ingredients and the deliciousness of bread, making bread lovers sigh in admiration.

This is a popular bakery in Tokyo where people from different backgrounds such as office workers and businessmen line up, even in the early afternoon. I waited for about 40 minutes before entering the store. I purchased a "Pain au Chocolat," a croissant, and a "Kinako Stick?" It was definitely worth the wait for these delicious pastries.

Arrived at Pain des Philosophes, a popular bakery in Kagurazaka, one hour before opening for their 6th-anniversary event! There was already a long line extending around the corner of the neighboring building... The bakery is so popular, it's scary. But I waited to get the limited edition bread. About an hour later, a staff member came around to confirm the number of limited edition bread available, and they said I might not be able to buy it from about two people behind me. So, I had to wait another hour until I could enter the store, totaling a two-hour wait. It was hot and tiring, but the deliciousness of the bread did not disappoint. The croissant, Pain de Chocolat, baguette, and Asama bread were all amazing. The limited edition Truffle Danish was also incredible, even though it was expensive at 1500 yen. The aroma of truffle, rich butter, and cheese in the bread were beyond amazing. All the effort of waiting in line paid off! I also got a tumbler, so I'm satisfied. #PaindesPhilosophes #paindephilosophes #Kagurazaka #6thanniversaryevent #truffle

Celebrating the 6th anniversary, there was a long line 10 minutes before the store opened, with a staff member at the back apologizing for the 2-hour wait and limited truffle Danish. Despite missing out on it, the reviewer enjoyed the delicious pastries like Pomme, Daizu, and croissants after a 2-hour wait. They also got a free tumbler for spending over 3000 yen. The rustic bread was particularly praised for its unique texture and flavor. Though disappointed about missing the truffle Danish, they hope it will come back in the future.

I went around the time of opening, but there was quite a long line. This bakery, known for its hard bread, was very popular so I decided to wait in line. It turned out there was a novelty gift being given out, so I ended up waiting for 2 and a half hours. Finally, I was able to buy the bread, which was very delicious, and I especially liked the baguette!

Today, I took a train to explore Kagurazaka. I arrived in the morning, but it seems like there is some kind of shrine festival going on, as it's super crowded. I looked up a popular bakery and went there, only to find a long line. I decided to wait in line. The weather was sunny, but waiting in the sun was tough. After waiting for over 2 hours, I finally got inside the small bakery around 12:30. The aroma was amazing. I had to buy bread for tomorrow. I bought a croissant for 320 yen, a chocolate bread for 368 yen, a black bean and red bean paste bread for 260 yen, and an olive and cheese bread for 250 yen. After that, I explored Kagurazaka and went home. I tried the black bean and red bean paste bread first. The aroma was delicious. It had a sweet red bean paste inside, and the dough was chewy and fragrant. It disappeared in no time. I saved the rest for the next morning and warmed it up in the toaster. The croissant was crispy with a buttery taste, and the dough was fluffy and slightly moist inside. The chocolate bread had delicious dough, but the chocolate was a bit lacking. The olive and cheese bread had a chewy dough, and the olives inside might be a hit or miss depending on your preference. Despite the long wait, if I can enjoy these breads, I guess it was worth it. Waiting for 2 hours at a bakery, only in Kagurazaka.

I wanted to avoid the crowds, so I headed to the store as soon as it opened, but by the time I arrived, there were already more than 6 people in line. It's a popular place indeed. I got the Shirasu e Fromage Croissant Baguette to go. The Shirasu e Fromage had a chewy texture with plenty of shirasu, it was delicious! I had the croissant without reheating it. It would have been better to reheat it, but it was still delicious as is! It was also very tasty.

I visited a bakery in Kagurazaka that had a rating of 3.9 on Tabelog, which I had been curious about for a while. Despite hearing about the long lines, I decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon after having lunch nearby. Surprisingly, there was almost no line (just 2 groups ahead of me) and I only waited for about 30 seconds to enter. The shop was small but had a good selection of bread, with no items sold out. Since I wasn't sure about the types of bread, the staff helped me choose some classics and ones that would go well with wine. I purchased the following items: Baguette (freshly baked) for 360 yen, Ciabatta with olives (whole) for 690 yen, Olive and Cheese bread for 250 yen, and a Croissant for 320 yen. They were all delicious, but I couldn't quite distinguish the difference between this 3.7-rated bread and others. As I left after paying, I saw a line of over 10 people, confirming that this bakery is indeed popular.

I used takeout. When I arrived around 3 pm on a weekday, there were 3 people waiting, but I was able to enter relatively smoothly. It seems to be a very popular bakery. I ordered a croissant and a pain au chocolat. When I tried them at home, the croissant had a wonderful buttery aroma and the dough was crispy and delicious! The pain au chocolat also had a crispy dough and the chocolate had an elegant taste, making it very delicious. It was a bakery that lived up to its popularity.

◼️Chef who has been involved in the launch of famous bakeries such as "Dominique Saibron" in Paris. About 15 types of bread, all of which are fermented for a long time.◆Croissant [Most Popular] Made with French AOP fermented butter. It's voluminous and has a good buttery aroma, so much so that it's said to be the highest in consumption in Japan. Definitely worth a repeat visit!◼️Shop accepts credit cards and transportation IC cards. Owner chef Tetsu Enomoto has been involved in the launch of famous bakeries such as "Dominique Saibron" in Paris and "Ore no Bakery & Cafe". He opened his own independent shop in 2017. The name of the shop, "Philosopher's Bread" in French, is named after the owner chef Tetsu Enomoto's name "Tetsu".◼️They are committed to using a blend of 10 types of flour. It's a popular shop with customers coming in one after another. The slope is quite steep...

⭐️Visited the bakery "PanTokyo" as part of my goal to visit 100 top bakeries in Tokyo. Finally made it there in August on a Saturday at 11am. I tried their croissant for 320 yen, which is their most popular item, and their pain au chocolat for 360 yen, which is the 22nd most popular item. Both items had a great base dough that I enjoyed, and the bitter chocolate in the pain au chocolat was also good. The pastries were not overly crispy, had just the right amount of oil, and didn't crumble too much when bitten into. It's not the most convenient location, but the delicious pastries make me want to come back for more.

On a weekday after 12 o'clock, there were 4 people in line ahead of me. I waited outside the small shop and realized how tiny it was. It's tucked away in a quiet area with no other shops around, but easy to spot with people waiting outside. It was my first time experiencing the style of ordering from the staff, so I felt a bit flustered with people waiting and not knowing what to expect. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the bread I wanted to try from a magazine until the next customer ordered it... I'll definitely come back soon to buy the Le Vinylon Rouge Blanc. Moving on, the items I purchased this time were: Croissant ¥320 - Crispy on the outside and inside, with a light and buttery taste that makes it easy to eat more. Baton Sucré ¥120 - A dense croissant with a hint of cinnamon and cane sugar as accents. Cherry Tomato and Mandarin Orange ¥380 - Freshly baked with a soft and chewy texture. The sweetness of the tomato inside the orange is delicious. Rustique Noir ¥290 - The outer crust is soft, while the inside is chewy and satisfying to eat. Overall, the items I bought today were all delicious and reasonably priced.

Stylish and delicious. There is no eat-in option, and it's a bit pricey, but the food is really good. It's a bakery with great presentation and taste. I had the Levain Blanc 750, Pain au Chocolat 360, and Croissant 320, totaling 1430 yen. It was really good.

I revisited Philosophe in Kagurazaka. Lately, I have been encountering a lot of people praising their croissants. Although I was tempted to dismiss it as overhyped, I decided to give it another try. The pain au chocolat was still delicious as always, and if someone is going to praise this place, they should try this too. It seems like they are improving. However, the croissant I had that day seemed to have a slightly weaker flavor compared to the one I had before. This means that they might have some hits and misses.

I had some business in Kagurazaka, so I visited this bakery, which is the most popular one in the area. It seems to be very popular, as they have a limited selection of items, especially later in the day. I purchased the following two items: - Croissant - Pain au Chocolat Now, onto the tasting. I am not very knowledgeable about bread, so I cannot provide detailed information. The croissant had a unique taste with a hint of bitterness rather than sweetness or butteriness, giving it an adult flavor. It was my first time trying a croissant with this kind of taste, so I'm not sure if it was delicious or not. The Pain au Chocolat had a good balance of chocolate, adding a nice accent to the pastry. The world of bread is complex. That's all.

It's been a while since I visited Philosophe-san. This time, I bought a bread that's perfect for eating on the go. The Shirasu and Fromage, Ficelle de Chambord, Baton Sucré - all of them were so delicious that I was amazed. Just eating them alone made me feel satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I definitely want to try the bread for meals.
