The former Shiro Kuramata residence is a wonderful place where you can feel elegant, with museums, restaurants, and original shops. Walking slowly through the bamboo grove from the parking lot, you can't help but feel excited about what kind of world awaits you. It is said that the house was extensively renovated over many years by the late owner, who had bought the old farmhouse from his mother. Many remnants of that time are still preserved, making it a delightful experience to discover them. Although we had to wait about an hour for a table at the restaurant, we were able to enjoy exploring the vast grounds, so the time flew by. Now, we tried the omurice and shrimp curry, and we were amazed by the high level of cooking! They were exquisite! - Omurice: The best omurice I've ever had. The demiglace sauce is fantastic. The unusual mix of fluffy egg and rice is delightful. It's the first time I've seen rice wrapped in egg rather than the other way around. The tenderness of the block-shaped beef is also surprising. - Shrimp Curry: The aroma of various spices is excellent. It has a very spicy and flavorful taste. The large shrimp is also a delight. It's truly delicious! - Vegetable Soup: Lightly flavored with the natural sweetness of vegetables. It has a very gentle taste that is comforting. This is a wonderful place that I would love to visit again and again throughout the seasons.

I couldn't help but think, "Why did I come all the way here?" But I was very satisfied with both the museum and the restaurant. Many people were ordering curry, but I really wanted oyakodon, so I ended up getting that. It had a very refined taste and was delicious.

This is a restaurant I've always wanted to visit! There is a museum next door, but you can enter the restaurant for free. The parking lot was spacious even on a Saturday afternoon, and I was able to enter the restaurant without waiting. Although curry was recommended, I tried the water dumpling set. The plump water dumplings were delicious, as well as the dumpling sauce, sweet and sour fried chicken, and bamboo shoots that came with it! It cost around 2000 yen, but I was satisfied after eating. The plates were also very nice. I'm interested in trying the curry, oyakodon, omurice, and other dishes, so I would like to visit again!

The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere with a traditional Japanese house style, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time there. The staff were friendly and provided attentive service. The retro interior design of the restaurant was charming. The spicy shrimp curry had a rich flavor, perfect for summer, and was very satisfying. My family enjoyed dishes like parent and child bowl, omelette rice, and doria, which all looked delicious.

Today, I went to the Tokyo Machida area to meet someone I haven't seen in a while. The place they chose was here, a place associated with Jiro Shirasu. It was quite impressive. There is also a museum in the back, but on this day, we just wanted to have a light meal and catch up. So, we entered the restaurant. The menu featured items related to Jiro Shirasu, so we had a general idea of what we wanted, but we decided to ask the staff for more details. In the end, I chose the chicken curry. The time it took for the food to be served was surprisingly short, and I thought it might just be a tourist spot, but when I took the first bite of the curry, I could tell it was carefully prepared. The cabbage side dish was not seasoned, as it was explained that Jiro Shirasu preferred it that way, to be eaten with the curry. So, I dug in. The chicken was quite large, not your typical bite-sized piece, showing attention to detail. Overall, it was delicious. I'll save exploring the museum area for next time, but even just from the entrance to the restaurant, you could get a glimpse of what life was like back then, making the meal quite enjoyable.

Jiro and Masako Shirasu's former residence, Take-sojo, where they lived as a couple. It is a restaurant located in a well-maintained barn and garden next to the constant chirping of birds, a 20-minute walk from Tsurukawa Station. Arriving at noon on a weekday, the restaurant was already full, so we had to write our names on the waiting list outside and explore the garden or sit in chairs listening to the birds for about 30 minutes. We were able to visit a part of the well-maintained residence. Here, you can enjoy dishes related to Jiro Shirasu. The menu is accompanied by various anecdotes, making it enjoyable to read and imagine the couple's demeanor. Shrimp curry (¥1,900) and omurice (¥1,900) were ordered. The cabbage julienne on the curry is a heartwarming anecdote about how Jiro disliked vegetables but could surprisingly eat them with curry. The omurice is not the type wrapped in chicken rice but the old-fashioned style with rice mixed with egg and molded. The demi-glace sauce contains chunks of beef. The amount of rice was quite large, so it was quite filling. The consomme soup in the set was delicious. The taste was decent considering it as a tourist spot. We visited with the purpose of using the cafe, but we were able to see the beliefs cherished by the couple and the valuable antiques they collected, as well as the ample greenery surrounding the area which was quaint and unexpectedly refreshing. There were many tourists on this day, and it seemed like people didn't stay for too long, perhaps due to their next plans, but on holidays, there are likely many customers from nearby areas. It is expected to be even more crowded. 2023.06.21.wed. 11:30-

It's about a 10-minute walk from Tsurukawa Station to the restaurant located at the Shiro Jiro & Shiro Masako residence called "Buso-so." Jiro was said to dislike vegetables so there are not many vegetables on the menu, but all dishes are simple and use minimal ingredients, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. The beautiful building, garden, museum, and cars at Buso-so create a sophisticated atmosphere that is full of nostalgia and admiration for Japanese culture and the good old days. It's no wonder that many enthusiastic fans visit, and it can get quite busy on weekends. It's a truly wonderful place where you can still see the valuable lifestyle of this stylish and cool couple.

There was a shelf of Michelia champaca on the terrace seat, so I had been wanting to visit according to the season. I remembered that it was already blooming a little at "Cafe Odawara Citrus Club" in Odawara, so I decided to visit. Unfortunately, it was already towards the end, but I was glad to see it. Is late March a good time to visit... The azaleas next to the gate were very beautiful. The dishes we had were: - Tiger Pao Rice 1680 yen - Omelette Rice 1680 yen We shared both dishes. Both come with vegetable soup. They contained bacon, shimeji mushrooms, cabbage, root vegetables, and plenty of bamboo shoots. The Gapaoraisu can be enjoyed with nam pla according to your preference. The fried egg was half-cooked, and the two colors of bell peppers were sweet, and the basil was fragrant and delicious. The omelette rice no longer comes with the salad it used to have, which is a bit disappointing. It consists of rice mixed with egg, topped with a stew with tender beef chunks. There was also meat hidden under the fried onions. We only had a meal after having cake at Optima Tan, but we were full. I would like to visit again. The high rating is due to the location.

I ordered the chicken curry, which had large chunks of meat and was deliciously spicy. The pickles and soup that came with it were also tasty. The portion size was generous. The atmosphere at the restaurant, modeled after the home of Jiro and Masako Shirasu, was charming. You can even take a stroll in the garden.

The other day, when I visited Musosho, the former residence of Shiro Jiro and Masako, I had lunch at this restaurant located in one corner. I was intrigued by the Shiro Jiro's specialty parent and child bowl ordered by the person at the next table, but I decided to have omurice based on my mood that day. The omurice looked beautiful, and the sauce on top tasted like a very elegant and high-quality beef stew, incredibly delicious. The rice inside was finely mixed with eggs, creating a surprisingly fluffy texture. I usually like the common ketchup omurice, so I have probably only had brown sauce omurice a few times in the past, but this was the most elegant and high-quality omurice I have ever had. My friend had the shrimp curry, which came with shredded cabbage on the side, and the Shiro Jiro's touch was to mix it into the curry while eating. I am curious about the parent and child bowl as well, so I would love to visit again.

Located in Machida, closer to Kawasaki, is the restaurant called "Restaurant Busosho," which is situated at the former residence of the post-war bureaucrat, Jiro Shirasu. Here, I had the opportunity to try the famous curry that was a favorite of Jiro Shirasu throughout his life. I ordered the Shrimp Curry with Soup for 1900 yen. The curry, which was carefully prepared, had a rich and spicy flavor that showcased a great sense of seasoning. The chunks of shrimp added a delicious touch to the dish. The pot-au-feu soup served alongside the curry had a lingering taste that was balanced by the sweetness of the vegetables. As I looked at the dishes that Jiro Shirasu had enjoyed, I found myself wanting to try them next time. For dessert, I ordered the Dorayaki for 880 yen, which was a Japanese sweet with red bean paste and matcha ice cream sandwiched in between. The dessert was a perfect way to end the meal, especially when paired with a slightly bitter green tea.

This cafe is highly regarded locally. It's recommended to go at a strategic time (or be prepared to wait in line) as they don't take lunch reservations. The White House-style curry rice is popular, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The clientele is pleasant, making it a great choice for those looking to relax in a calm atmosphere.

I visited Musaso for the second time. Last time, I only toured the facility, but this time I had lunch at the restaurant inside the inn. The restaurant is operated by a major food and beverage group that also manages eel restaurants, Chinese cuisine, yakiniku, and Japanese cuisine. I tried the shrimp curry that Shirasu Jiro loved. The vegetable soup that came with it was very gentle in taste. The curry had a rich flavor and was very delicious. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, renovated from an old folk house. The ambiance and location were wonderful, making it a lovely place to dine. I will definitely visit Musaso again when I come back.

4.7.30 Take-Sojo. I've always wanted to visit here. I am interested in a person named Shirasu Jiro. He was asked by Yoshida Shigeru at the end of the war to negotiate with GHQ, but he did not give in and worked towards the establishment of the Japanese Constitution while thinking about the future of Japan. In simple terms, he is a gentleman. In photos, he looks a bit like James Dean in his younger days. He studied abroad in Cambridge, England, so he must have been quite good at English. His wife, Masako, is the second daughter of a noble family and has been interested in Noh since she was young, and she was also a famous talented writer. I visited their home where Shirasu Jiro and Masako Shirasu lived all their lives, where you can see their study and there is also a café. I went by car, but the parking lot was difficult to find, so I hope they can improve that. There was a map of the parking lot at the entrance of Take-Sojo, but it was simplified and difficult for first-time visitors to understand. The entrance fee was 1,100 yen for adults, but I thought it was necessary to maintain Take-Sojo, and it was a reasonable amount after seeing it. We went to the café, my companion had iced coffee and dorayaki, and I chose iced coffee and Italian dolce cassata. I tried a bit of the matcha ice cream from the dorayaki and thought it was rich in flavor. The cassata had a neat piping and I thought it was elegant, but it lacked a bit of richness and sweetness. Still, it is elegant. It felt like the cassata, with dried fruits and cashews trapped in ice cream made with cream cheese and whipped cream, was a metaphor for the beautifully displayed glass bottles and other glass products exhibited at Take-Sojo. I took a walk in the bamboo forest and thought I would like to come back in a different season. I had a meaningful time there.

I watched a drama that I recorded a while ago and became a fan of Jiro Shirasu. When I searched online, I quickly found this shop related to him and decided to visit it. From the parking lot to the shop, there is a charming bamboo grove that adds to the attraction of the place, making it feel like a pilgrimage site. The shop was quite crowded, but luckily I managed to find an available seat. I glanced at the menu and decided to order the curry without hesitation... Wait, there are two kinds, shrimp and chicken! It was an impromptu decision, but I ended up ordering the chicken curry. The curry arrived, and the staff explained about Jiro Shirasu's dislike for vegetables. As explained, eating cabbage with curry really brings out the sweetness of the vegetables. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt like I was in the mood of Jiro Shirasu. Later, I found out that Jiro Shirasu actually had the shrimp curry, not chicken, so I now have a reason to visit the shop again.

Shirasu Jiro, is that okay with you? If you are confident in your work, it's okay to be unfriendly, but if not, it's not good. For more details about emoticon explanations, please check the profile. Especially for things that are difficult to express in words, only emoticons are used. Rating: 2.1 points Price/Regular Price: 800,450/2230 Signature Dish: Shrimp Curry, Iced Tea Taste: Frozen shrimp curry, dry white rice, cabbage with no seasoning as requested by Shirasu who dislikes vegetables, unclear if the pot-au-feu is miso soup, small-sized iced tea Atmosphere: Antique Staff: Unfriendly and indifferent Hygiene: No partitions Points: Shirasu Jiro, who is supposed to have a solid policy, would not approve of this. The staff asked me to write my name at the entrance, but forgot to call me even though they had already seated two other parties. Despite empty tables, they did not seat me for about 20 minutes, and only noticed when I stood visibly waiting. There was already a long line behind me in the scorching heat, and I would appreciate it if they could be more considerate. If they charge a high price, it is their duty to provide dishes and service that match it, and not tarnish the name of historical figures. *Rating: 5 points or more: A restaurant I don't want to tell anyone about... so I won't list it. (Rarely, I may mention a 5-point restaurant outside the list.) 5 points: Only one favorite restaurant per category (e.g. one ramen restaurant, one curry restaurant, etc.) 4.5 or higher: Willing to travel far and wait in line to use it again and again. 4 points or more: Willing to use it repeatedly, can recommend it for entertaining or to friends. 3.5 or more: Will be put on the revisit list. 3 points or more: If nearby... if there are no other options, I will go. 2 points or more: Look for other restaurants, won't go there myself. 1 point or less: Will never go again, even if invited, will refuse. *Even if it is 3.5 or higher, if you get tired of the menu after a few visits, the rating may decrease.

It had been a while since I visited Buaiso, where Shirasu Jiro is said to have spent time. The management seems to have changed since my last visit, with the website being renewed. I had a bit of trouble finding the parking lot after not going for a while. From the parking lot, I walked along a nature-rich promenade to the main building. The café space next to the classic cars was not open on that day. When I entered the restaurant with a traditional Japanese house style, about 80% of the seats were occupied, so we were guided to a seat in the back room. Last time, I had the shrimp curry, so this time I ordered the chicken curry. My wife ordered the omurice. The restaurant is decorated with items that Shirasu Jiro loved. There were even more displayed in the adjacent gallery. About 10 minutes later, our dishes arrived. I forgot to take a photo of the omurice, but it was like fried rice with egg on top, similar to the original omurice from Renga-tei. I took a bite, and the demi-glace sauce was exceptionally delicious. And the curry. It seems that the pickles have been significantly reduced, but everything else was the same as last time. It is a high-quality European-style curry with a luxurious feel like hotel curry. Both dishes were made with high-quality stock, I suppose. The quality was high, and the taste and aroma were excellent. The portions were quite generous for a Tokyo restaurant. I was full and satisfied once again. Thank you for the wonderful meal. My wife, who visited for the first time, was also very happy. Even if you don't know about Shirasu Jiro, I think it's worth visiting just as a café.

About a 15-minute walk from Tsurukawa Station on the Odakyu Line is Takeisoso, next to an art museum. The restaurant there is also famous. After visiting the museum, it's natural to have lunch at the Takeisoso restaurant. When it's open, a sign is displayed at the entrance. Inside, tables are spaced out. Decorations include baby carriers and bandori. A table for four is used by two people. Various decorations are placed on the beams. The red Japanese candles are lovely. There are also rooms in the back. In the back room, there are three tables. There is a dish cabinet on the wall with beautiful dishes inside. On the left is a terrace, where you can dine outside if the weather is nice. The menu is placed on the table. I ordered the Gapao rice, which came with soup and salad. It was a bit spicy. The soup had a variety of vegetables and a soft taste. It was quite a generous portion. I'm sorry, I left a little bit. And then coffee. Full, full! Thank you for the meal~.

After having soba noodles on June 4th, I headed straight to Tsurugawa. Originally, I was planning to go to a certain place on the Oba-Q line, but it was decided that tomorrow would be better timing, so I changed course abruptly. The unfriendly attitude was not towards the waiter, but towards the Bushosou. Last week, I continued to visit the old folk house, which was a former farmhouse with a splendid thatched roof, bought and reclaimed as the "Shirasu Jiro Residence". The house was filled with attention to detail. Since photography inside the residence was prohibited, I continued to snap pictures with my heart's shutter. After the tour, I chilled out at the nearby shop. Since the giant chrysanthemum tempura is still announcing its presence in my stomach, I opted for something light. The chocolate terrine and draft beer were perfect accompaniments to savor the aftertaste of the residence. The exhibits inside the residence (mainly tableware and collectibles) seem to change with the seasons, so I would like to visit again in a different season.

This is a restaurant located in Takeaso-so (Machida City), where Jiro and Masako Shirasu used to live. The menu they actually ate on a daily basis is recreated here. I had the Takeaso-so shrimp curry (1,900 yen) and my husband had Jiro's oyakodon (1,680 yen). The restaurant has indoor and terrace seating. I chose the terrace seat because the greenery, gentle breeze, and bird songs were pleasant. The curry was learned from Masako's brother in Singapore, and it became the curry of the Shirasu family. Jiro didn't like vegetables, so he would mix cabbage and other side dishes into the curry and eat them... haha. Reflecting on the dining habits of the Shirasu couple at that time, having lunch at the former Shirasu residence is truly special.

If you are a fan of Jiro and Masako Shirasu, you must visit Buaiso. Jiro Shirasu, who used to drive American cars at the age of 17, and Masako, the second daughter of a count who was born in Nagatacho. They chose to live here with their own aesthetic sense. It is located in Tsurugawa, which used to be a village between Musashi and Sagami, hence the name "Buaiso". Although it is now a residential area, it feels like time has stopped when you enter this property. The former residence, now turned into a museum, is a must-see, but you can also just use the cafe here. The cafe has a high ceiling and a cozy atmosphere with a mix of Japanese and Western styles. I selected the dessert set for 1480 yen, which included cheesecake and tea. The not-too-sweet cheesecake had a homemade feel to it and was served with cherry blossom ice cream that was perfect for the season. My partner ordered the famous dorayaki, which had "Buaiso" written on the skin! It was quite substantial with matcha ice cream in the middle. It was a wonderful time. It almost felt like we were able to meet the couple a little bit.
