The day before my health check-up... Don't drink alcohol. Don't eat after 9 pm. After much thought, I ended up at Yoshinoya at the last minute. It's a shop in Jiyugaoka that I've been going to for a long time. I used to come here a lot about 30 years ago. It's not like the results of my health check-up will change based on what I eat now, so I ordered without holding back. I got a large beef bowl with extra meat, a side of beef, an egg, and pickles. Yeah. I wanted to order the super-sized one, but there's too much rice; that's why I often go for the large beef bowl. Isn't there too little beef in the large beef bowl, though? That's why I went with this combination. It's luxurious. By the way, the egg and pickles are a must! And this is how it all came together. Beautiful... Delicious... Totally satisfied ♡ I wish I could eat this every day, but oh well. Oh, I forgot to order the limited-time cold soup. ;_;

I was all pumped up to go to a certain ramen restaurant, but it was closed for staff training. Feeling like I could eat anything, I ended up choosing a lower calorie option - the Charred Green Onion Grilled Chicken Bowl for 547 yen. It was about two regular meat skewers worth of grilled chicken and green onions. The sweet and savory sauce with the charred green onions added a nice touch. The meat was juicy and tender, overall a good choice!

This time, I'm not reviewing Yoshinoya as a whole, but focusing on one new menu item. After a night of drinking, I decided to stop by Yoshinoya for a late-night meal. I was craving something rich in flavor, and luckily I came across their standout new menu item: "Charred Green Onion Yakitori Bowl for 498 yen." I thought the sauce would be bold and the chicken would be less guilty compared to other options. I gave it a try, and it was delicious. The sweet sauce combined with the charred green onion's fragrant flavor was a perfect balance, with the onion cutting through the sweetness and heaviness. The chicken was tender and easy to eat. This dish is only available for a limited time, but it would be great if they made it a regular menu item. Thank you for the meal.

I used to come to Jiyugaoka quite often for work until around 2016, but it has changed quite a bit since then. Places like "Soba Shin" are gone now. "Kourakuen" and the Chinese restaurant "Dairen" are also no longer there. However, Yoshinoya and Matsuya are still going strong. So, after 7 years, I had the Spicy Beef Curry with Potato Salad at the Jiyugaoka branch. The combination of beef and curry is excellent. It was delicious.

The difference between the small and regular sizes is quite noticeable, with the regular size having significantly more rice and beef. The 521 yen for the regular size is quite a good deal. For an additional 121 yen, you can upgrade to a large size for 642 yen, which is quite expensive for a breakfast. The large size for 708 yen, special size for 873 yen, and extra special size for 994 yen are almost like food from the heavens. Where can you find fast, cheap, and delicious food these days?

Located in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Asagyu Set (half-cooked egg/regular-sized gyudon) costs ¥521 including tax. Asagyu is a limited morning menu that includes gyudon, miso soup, and a side dish. You can choose from five side dishes: raw egg, half-cooked egg, mini salad, natto, or pickles. This morning, I ordered the regular-sized gyudon with a half-cooked egg. The gyudon was served quickly and generously filled the bowl, exuding a traditional gyudon flavor. The taste was consistent and reliable, a standard in the world of gyudon. The volume of the regular-sized gyudon seemed more suitable for a raw egg than a half-cooked egg.

Sometimes I crave Yoshigyu, so I had it for breakfast this day. The pork belly had a bit too much fat, but it was well-cooked in sauce so it wasn't a big issue. I paired it with miso soup for a balanced meal. It's delicious when eaten occasionally!

Today is the last day of the "Half Price Meat Festival." Following yesterday's natto set meal, today I enjoyed the Ham and Egg Natto Set Meal. It was a luxurious breakfast with beef bowl and natto rice topped with a fried egg, along with ham and salad. I regret not realizing sooner how wonderful this combination is.

It remains a solid choice as the fourth batter on the Yoshinoya breakfast menu. The main dish includes ham and eggs, along with a salad for a luxurious setting. The natto comes with finely chopped green onions, and the miso soup has seaweed and freeze-dried green onions floating in it. Placing the fried egg on top of the rice with natto and gradually breaking it apart while eating creates a unique feeling of happiness. I enjoyed the ham, salad, and miso soup thoroughly. The appearance of the poster is clearly different from the actual dish. The poster shows rice, meat-filled Hayashi sauce, and cream arranged, but the actual dish is Hayashi rice with beef topping. However, this is good. First, I tried the Hayashi rice alone and it was delicious. I could taste the rich umami and the acidity of the tomato. Next, I tried the beef and rice together, and the flavor of the broth and soy sauce was great. The aroma is something you can only experience with the beef topping. Lastly, I mixed the beef, Hayashi sauce, and cream together and it was tasty. I could feel a different kind of acidity that was different from the tomato. Maybe they mixed yogurt with the cream? It was quite delicious.

Tokyo, Meguro-ku, Jiyugaoka 1-10-4 Pork Bowl (Small) ¥371- [Tax included] This morning, I didn't have much time so I decided to grab a quick breakfast at Yoshinoya, but surprisingly, the "Pork Bowl" turned out to be a menu item that requires some preparation. Unlike the "Beef Bowl" which is constantly heated in a large pot, the pork and onions for the Pork Bowl are pre-cooked and reheated in a microwave before being served on rice. This method allows the pork to remain tender and the onions to retain their crunchiness without being compromised. Despite the slightly longer preparation time, the combination of tender pork and soy sauce-flavored sauce is a unique and delicious aspect of the Pork Bowl.

At Yoshinoya, I had a small beef bowl for breakfast. The simple yet flavorful beef and sauce over rice left me satisfied. Yoshinoya's beef bowl, with its rich taste, is a classic choice among fast food options. The consistent flavor across all locations makes it a reliable go-to meal.

It's a competitive pricing era with price increases. The interior of the restaurant looks clean after a recent renovation.
