I visited around 12 o'clock on a weekday. The location is just 10 seconds from the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa, so it's crowded with tourists and junior high school students on school trips. I waited outside for about 25 minutes before getting a seat. There were many foreign tourists as well. While waiting outside, I was asked for my order and chose a set meal. I ordered an anago tendon bowl and a tsukimi udon. The food was served relatively quickly after being seated. The udon had toppings of tenkasu, green onions, and a poached egg in a delicious broth with the umami of kombu and bonito. The udon was a bit soft but chewy and delicious. The tendon bowl had a large piece of anago sticking out of the bowl, along with nori, green pepper, and pumpkin tempura. It was also delicious. It's not cheap for lunch, but considering the quality and the tourist area prices, it's worth it. I would like to try other menu items next time. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived around 12:10 on Saturday afternoon. Waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. We were seated at a table for two. Asakusa wasn't too crowded for a Saturday. I had the Oroshi Bukkake Udon for 780 yen, and the broth was delicious. By 12:45, there was already a line forming outside.

Asakusa sightseeing - I visited shortly after opening around 11 am due to the extreme heat. There were various menu options, but I ordered the grated daikon udon for a light meal. Compared to the hearty Musashino udon I usually have, it seemed very refined. I thought it had a high-quality and well-balanced taste unique to Tokyo. Thank you for the meal!

I encountered a cozy udon restaurant called Kanoya along the approach to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. The restaurant has seating up to the second floor. In addition to udon, they also serve tempura! It's perfect for when you want something a little warm. The soft egg, cute fish cake, slightly bitter taste of green onions, and colorful seaweed all come together to create a dish that warms both the heart and body. This restaurant was selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog in 2020. Since it's located near Sensoji Temple, it may get crowded depending on the season. I got the impression that there were many foreign visitors. It seems like a good place to take foreign guests!

First visit, arrived at 13:30, the restaurant was almost full but we were quickly seated on the second floor. I ordered the Kashiwa Tempura Udon for 1,050 yen and waited for a bit. The Nakamise Street was bustling with school students on field trips and foreign tourists even on weekdays. After about a 10-minute wait, the food was served. The noodles were slightly thin with a smooth and chewy texture, but lacked firmness. The broth was a simple golden color, light and refreshing. The tempura consisted of 4 pieces of chicken and 1 piece of green bean tempura. The batter on the chicken was a bit thick but had a delicate flavor. When added to the udon and soaked in the broth, it created a nice balance. Considering the location, I think the cost performance is not bad. I enjoyed the meal very much. Thank you for the delicious meal! 🍜

I knew there was an udon restaurant here from before, but today it was cold in the morning and we were going to karaoke at night, so I wanted something warm to eat quickly before drinking too much. Some people don't like ramen or soba, so it was a choice between udon and this place was suggested. We had to wait a bit because we couldn't go in until everyone arrived, and one person was running late due to work, so three of us went in first. I had kitsune udon and a small anago don, while others had nikujiru udon and negitoro don, and tsukimi udon with kashiwa tempura and ebi tempura. The broth had a nice kombu flavor and the udon was delicious, chewy yet light. I could eat this udon every day! The rice in the donburi was tasty, and the tempura was crispy and the sauce was delicious. It was quite a generous portion. Now, let's sing! We left the restaurant with smiles on our faces.

A highly rated udon restaurant near Asakusa. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very Asakusa-like, and there are many foreign customers. This kind of atmosphere seems to be well received by foreigners. I ordered bukkake udon. The udon was quite smooth and easy to slurp. It wasn't bad, but personally, it didn't really impress me. I prefer udon with more chewiness and better flavor. There's more to Sanuki udon than meets the eye.

"Kanoya" is located just west of Nakamise Street, off of Denboin Street. It's a hand-made udon shop where we were able to enter without much of a wait. The udon has a firm texture like Sanuki-style udon, with a Kansai-style broth and tempura that also seems Kansai-style. The tempura batter is white. It's a taste that Kansai people would find comforting." #Udon #HandmadeUdon #Tempura #Asakusa #Kanoya

After watching "8 1/2" in Takadanobaba, I headed to Asakusa. Before the Kenkou・Bantaku performance, I stopped by for an eel rice bowl and wakame udon set for ¥1,200. The Asahi beer in a medium bottle was ¥660. I was hoping for a better broth, but it was just average. It seemed like they didn't use bonito flakes. The portion size was good for elderly customers. I prefer my beer cold even in winter. When poured into a glass, 4/5 of it was foam! It's a bit pricey, more geared towards tourists.

■Visit date/time & Crowdedness
Visited on a weekday Thursday around 11 am. Was able to enter without waiting, but the 2nd floor was full, and I think the 1st floor was almost full as well (it might have been busier than usual on weekdays due to the New Year). By the time I left the restaurant around noon, there were a few groups waiting in line.
■Order
- Anago Tendon Set
After debating between the Ebi Tendon set, I decided to go with Anago, which I don't usually eat. The sauce wasn't as heavy as I expected, so I added a little extra from the condiments on the table, which was just right. The udon was very simple, with a refreshing broth that felt gentle on the body. The udon was incredibly smooth on the surface, almost "slippery" is the perfect way to describe it. It wasn't as chewy as Ise Udon, but not overly soft either, making it easy to digest. It's a nostalgic type of udon. It may not be a special donburi or udon, but considering the price, I think it's fantastic. For those with small appetites, the set might be too much to finish (my companion seemed to struggle).
■Atmosphere/Customer Base/Service
The restaurant has a simple cafeteria-like atmosphere and is quite narrow. Being in Asakusa, there were many tourists, and on the 2nd floor, besides us, almost everyone else was from overseas, with Korean being spoken frequently. The age range of customers is wide, from young women to elderly individuals.
■Payment
Payment is made near the entrance on the 1st floor with the bill in hand.
■Solo Dining Difficulty Level: ★★★☆
Personally, I find it challenging to dine alone at touristy places (everyone seems to be having fun in groups, making it awkward to be alone). It would be more comfortable if seated at the counter, but if not, it might feel unsettling. It might be even more difficult to go alone if there's a line.

I visited Asakusa for Hatsumode in January 2023. It was very crowded with worshippers, so I decided to have lunch early. I went to Kanoya on Denpo-in Street, perpendicular to Nakamise Street. There was a long line, and I waited for about 20 minutes. I ordered a set with mini kake udon and mini unadon for 1680 yen. The udon noodles were hand-made and had a chewy texture that felt good in the throat. The noodles were firm but slightly softer than Sanuki udon. The broth was Kansai-style, very rich and delicious. They use Rishiri kelp, bonito flakes, and dried sardines, without using any chemical seasonings. Both the noodles and broth were to my liking. I would like to come back when I make my next visit for gratitude. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a holiday afternoon, there were a few people in front of the store around 1 pm. When I asked if they were lining up, they said no. When I opened the door, there were empty seats and I was guided to the counter. The customer service was very polite. The store was clean and well-maintained. I had kake udon. It was easy to eat, smooth, and had a decent elasticity. The broth was a bit salty. Having the tempura served separately was a nice touch. Overall, the udon was like a regular udon, nothing special, but that's what makes it good. It felt like a high-end version of Nakau. The price was reasonable considering its location near Nakamise Street.

At one point, there were no queues, but recently this popular restaurant has regained its popularity and formed queues again. Located 3-4 minutes walk from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express, it is one of the top 100 udon shops in 2020. I visited for the first time on a Sunday at 7:10 pm and was able to enter smoothly. Last order on Sundays is at 7:30 pm, on weekdays it's at 7:00 pm. I was seated on the first floor, but the window seats on the second floor seem to be popular for their good view. You can also request a window seat, which is recommended. Set combos are available starting from 1200 yen. I ordered the Ebi-Tendon (shrimp tempura rice bowl) and Kake Udon (udon with tempura flakes) in a large size for an additional 220 yen, totaling 1420 yen. The food was served in about 10 minutes. The udon had a good texture, not too firm, with a nice elasticity. The broth had a good aroma and was delicious. The tempura was also tasty. Being able to enjoy a tempura and udon set at this price in the heart of Asakusa is quite reasonable, and I now understand why they earned the title of a top 100 shop. As of October 2022, the restaurant has a rating of 3.56 on Tabelog.

The udon, especially the tempura bowl, was exquisite! The udon noodles were firm and gave a satisfying feeling of fullness, even with a regular size portion! I recommend sticking to the regular size as the large size was too much. The tempura bowl with conger eel was incredibly delicious! The eel was crispy on the outside and had no fishy smell on the inside! The cost performance was outstanding!

The chilled plum and seaweed udon was refreshing, but on a hot day, I was hoping for something ice cold. The dipping sauce was lukewarm and bland, and the udon noodles were slightly undercooked and lukewarm. I think I would have preferred warm udon instead. It was a bit disappointing that the noodles weren't properly chilled. It seems like a popular spot for tourists, but if you do decide to eat here, I recommend trying the bukkake udon instead. They accept electronic payments.

This is a udon restaurant in Asakusa! It is located around the intersection of Nakamise Shopping Street and Denboin-dori. I was debating where to have lunch when it started raining, so I decided to go in since it was right in front of me. The first floor was crowded, but when I was escorted to the second floor, there was quite a bit of space. I was thinking of getting udon and tempura, but there was a set that came with tempura-don, so I ordered that. Most of the customers were tourists, and conversations like "Where are you going next?" or "What are you going to eat next?" were flying around. The food arrived! The broth was like Kansai-style, not typical of Asakusa maybe, but it had a good flavor with a strong dashi taste. The udon had a nice firm texture. The shrimp tempura-don had shrimp, seaweed, bell pepper, and pumpkin. The tempura was crispy and delicious. The chicken tempura topping was juicy and had a good chewy texture. It was pretty tasty overall, but if asked what is the specialty of this restaurant, it's hard to say as there wasn't anything particularly outstanding.

I was lucky to be able to enter without waiting in line at the shop next to Nakamise Street, as it was close to closing time. The noodles had a chewy texture and the broth had an elegant flavor, giving off a somewhat Kansai-style impression. I enjoyed the delicious sticky and chewy udon.

I visited around 12 o'clock on a weekday and was able to enter without waiting due to the current situation with COVID-19. The restaurant has two floors, with the first floor for boiling noodles and creating a nice atmosphere. I was guided to the second floor, which was bustling with customers! The udon arrived around 15 minutes later. It seems that it's not good to rinse the noodles too much with water. That's why these shiny, firm, and delicious noodles are created, and I couldn't help but be convinced by that explanation!笑

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, I was able to get in without waiting even during lunchtime. I had the cold meat juice udon. It's a bit on the expensive side, costing close to 1000 yen, but the taste is really delicious. The udon noodles were just right, not too firm or too soft. When I drank the soup as it is, the flavor was very rich, but I like strong flavors so I enjoyed it.

I don't usually eat udon, but today's cold weather made me crave a bowl of it. Even though it was already past 11 o'clock, the restaurant was packed with customers, so I had to wait in line. However, they took our orders while we were waiting in line, and we were served our tempura and udon within 5 minutes of being seated, which was great service. The taste was delicious! The udon noodles had a nice chewy texture, and the broth was really flavorful. The tempura, a specialty of the udon shop, was also delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied, and I will definitely visit again when I crave udon.
