The freshness of the ingredients and the flavors are top-notch at this familiar restaurant. On this day, the orders were as follows:
- Special nigiri sushi
- Tuna yukhoe
- Miso-glazed eggplant
- Octopus tempura
- Oyster simmered in soy sauce
The nigiri sushi started with a melt-in-your-mouth toro roll, followed by a generous serving of ikura that showcased the chef's hospitality, fresh sea urchin, and more delicious toro. The tuna yukhoe, made with fresh tuna and raw egg, was a delight. It went well with beer, especially when paired with red pepper paste halfway through to enjoy a different flavor. The miso-glazed eggplant is a must-order dish here, with the perfect combination of eggplant and miso that will satisfy any eggplant lover. The octopus tempura is a great snack to accompany drinks, surprisingly juicy and delicious. We also ordered the oyster simmered in soy sauce, which had a sweet and salty flavor that paired well with beer. Overall, we were very satisfied with the dishes. There are still more dishes to try next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Established in 1951, the long-established sushi restaurant "Kinzushi" stands out for having a female sushi chef. The atmosphere of the restaurant is one of collaboration, with the chef and the owner working together. It is not uncommon to come across sushi restaurants where a female chef is in charge of making the sushi. Another "Kinzushi" in Asakusa, established around 1887, also had a female sushi chef. The restaurant is located near Itabashi Station in Tokyo, along Nakasendo in Kita-ku Takinogawa. The area used to be bustling, connecting to places like Miyanomoto Shotengai. Despite the lack of attention to traditional soba shops on food review websites, there are still many old and reputable establishments like "Sunaba." The lunch menu was displayed outside the restaurant, so I decided to visit. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I ordered the "Lunch Nigiri, 1.5 servings" for around 1,100 yen. The quality of the sushi was above average, with interesting touches like the red clam's edge and the thick slices of Kohada. Overall, the sushi was delicious and the meal was satisfying. The restaurant seemed to have a loyal customer base, but it was welcoming to newcomers.

I was always curious about the sushi restaurant that I pass by in front of the store. Since lunch starts at 850 yen, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is not new, but it is well maintained and clean. The mother made the sushi while the father made the rolls. I ordered nigiri, and was surprised by the large amount of rice. The taste of the toppings was hard to distinguish because of the overwhelming rice, haha. But when I mentioned this to an elderly friend later, they said, "That's traditional sushi from the old town." It seems to be an old-fashioned style. Since I'm not used to it, I'll order smaller rice portions next time, haha. The proprietress talked to me about the toppings and was a kind and lovely person. I also bought an Ehomaki for takeout, and it was very delicious. I think I'll buy Ehomaki from Kin Sushi again this year.

I've always wanted to go to Kin Sushi. It's rare to see a female chef at a sushi restaurant. I visited for lunch and the hostess took great care of us, accommodating our likes and dislikes. The colorful fish roe and braided sushi were like works of art! It was incredibly delicious. I will definitely be back. By the way, the chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was so delicious that I wanted to eat a bucketful!

Today, after several years, my wife and I went cycling and happened to have lunch at Kan Sushi. We ordered some cold sake, prepared for the possibility of drinking and driving. The appetizer was a small dish of pickled vegetables. The deluxe sushi platter for 1.5 people that my wife had was quite impressive. I opted for a smaller sushi platter for one person, which was just the right size for enjoying with sake. The miso soup with seaweed was delicious, and they even served us chestnuts simmered in their skins, which was very autumnal. I decided to order some additional dishes after finishing my first serving. The aji (horse mackerel) was thick and moist, reminiscent of a traditional Kumamoto style. The salt seasoning on it brought out a nostalgic flavor. I also tried the saury, horse mackerel, mackerel, and conger eel, all of which were delicious. Despite it being my first time at the restaurant, I was surprised by the affordability of their lunch menu. As I was about to order more, a delivery order came in, and the owner quickly hopped on his Super Cub to deliver it. It seemed like delivery was part of the owner's job. The owner had not returned by the time I finished my meal, so when I ordered the conger eel, to my surprise, the owner's wife prepared it for me. It was a shock, but she handled it with ease, as if she was used to it. If I ever find myself in the area again, I would love to visit this restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Located near the Nakasendo office, I was curious about the sushi restaurant and decided to go for lunch. I ordered nigiri sushi, and found the taste and service to be decent for the price. If you feel like eating sushi, this could be a good place to visit. It seems like a nice spot for those who want to move on from conveyor belt sushi and try a sushi restaurant with a counter. However, the atmosphere felt a bit empty, and I wished for a bit more attention from the staff, as I was the only customer there.

Around 11:15, I ordered delivery over the phone. I decided to go with the standard option and see how it goes. They said it would be delivered around 11:30, which was great because I was really hungry. As expected, it arrived at 11:30. We ordered two pieces of fatty tuna and one piece of regular tuna. The fatty tuna had high-quality ingredients like toro and simmered shellfish. One of my companions didn't like tuna, so they had the fatty tuna and regular tuna. As for the sushi, we got two pieces of regular tuna, and one each of squid, sea bream, octopus, egg, and gizzard shad. Except for the gizzard shad, we got all our favorites and the fish was fresh, the rice was fluffy. The egg was slightly sweet, just the way I like it. I found out that the second-generation landlady and her husband make the sushi, and I'm looking forward to dining in at the restaurant next time. The prices were clear and reasonable.

Kotobuki Ichiro
A rare restaurant where a husband, wife, and three sons make sushi at the counter and table seats in the location of Kotobuki Ichiro's family home.
