It was my first visit. It is located right by Nishi-Sugamo Station, so the access is excellent. The menu was extensive. The Samgyupsal is served grilled, so all you have to do is wrap it and eat, which is easy and delicious. The sliced garlic was a bit spicy when raw, so I thought it would be nice if it was cooked. The Kimchi Jeon was crispy yet chewy, and went well with alcohol. The restaurant is clean and the staff are kind, asking if you need an apron. The food was delicious, so I would like to try a different menu next time. Thank you for the meal~

The tofu stew had a rich flavor, the rice was freshly cooked and delicious, I was satisfied! When I went to pay, they also gave me a bonus Korean face mask. It's a restaurant that clearly wants to make their customers happy. Since the main dishes are spicy, it would be even better if rice refills were free!

In mid-November 2022, I revisited the restaurant. The cold season is approaching again this year. I have been experiencing dizziness, stronger neck pain, and overall weakness. A colleague from my former workplace of the same age passed away, and another had eye surgery for age-related macular degeneration. I am grateful for retiring at the right time. Yesterday, after my rehabilitation at the orthopedic clinic, I had "Samgyetang" for 1,100 yen at the Korean restaurant "Han Nara," which resumed lunch service in November. It came with three side dishes and rice. I first tried Samgyetang about 30 years ago at a restaurant called "Tosokchon" during my first trip to Korea. Now, in Japan, you can find smaller portions at affordable prices. The meal here was delicious in terms of quantity and taste. Especially, the rice, which is often bland at many Korean restaurants, was tasty here.

The Korean restaurant is always crowded, probably because there aren't many around. The place is small and compact. There are many Uber delivery drivers coming in and out, and many people don't bother closing the door behind them. I enjoyed Chamisul (easy to drink), Chapchae (sweet and easy to eat), seafood jeon (good amount of seafood and well-cooked), Jangjorim (sweet and savory), and Sundubu jjigae (slightly spicy with small portion). They even gave us a gift pack on the way out.

In late November 2021, I revisited this place. The weather has gotten colder lately. Tired of convenience store lunches, I decided to have Samgyetang here for the first time in a while. I visited for lunch and arrived right after the opening at 11:30 am. There was one customer ahead of me. Soon after, more customers started coming in, and the small restaurant was almost full. I ordered the 1000 yen "Half Samgyetang" set, which came with two side dishes, kimchi, and rice. The friendly Korean owner mentioned that if I needed more rice, I could ask for it. He also brought over some condiments, but I prefer the food to be lightly seasoned, so I was satisfied with the original taste. Samgyetang is just right for the cold weather. It's a shame that this place is closed for lunch on Saturdays.

Visited a Korean restaurant in Nishi-Sugamo area for lunch on a holiday in October. The restaurant is called "Kannara" in Nishi-Sugamo, located about a 3-minute walk from Nishi-Sugamo station. The interior of the restaurant is mainly black-themed with table seating and some counter seating at the back. The staff were polite and the tables were adequately spaced out. They provided hand sanitizer and took precautions for COVID-19. I ordered the "Half Samgyetang" for 1,000 yen and a draft beer for 500 yen. The meal started with side dishes like stir-fried glass noodles and kimchi. The main dish was served hot and included rice. The Samgyetang had a gentle flavor with a hint of garlic, and the overall meal was satisfying. The rice was cooked perfectly and the side dishes were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and would consider coming back to try other items on the menu. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience.

In mid-May 2021, revisited. Today, Tokyo is sunny. However, yesterday it was drizzling all day, a bit chilly. The fridge is empty. It's almost lunchtime, so I thought about going shopping for a solo lunch, but it seemed like a hassle, so I decided to eat out. When I left home, I wanted to have old-fashioned soy sauce ramen, but I saw a Korean home cooking restaurant "Hannara" at the intersection with a green light, so I suddenly changed my mind. Just before noon, the restaurant had 4 customers already. Then more and more people came in. It was almost full. I usually don't see much change in the samgyetang, so this time I chose the "Bulgogi Don" for 850 yen. It came with soup and 2 side dishes. It's been a while since I had Bulgogi, but for this price and portion, I was satisfied. It reminded me of when I had Bulgogi at the famous "Jeonju Jungang House" in Seoul a long time ago (vague memory).

In early January 2021, I revisited the restaurant. Today, Tokyo is sunny but cold. The state of emergency has been declared. Two days before the declaration, I went to a nearby library and on my way back, I had a solo lunch at a Korean restaurant called "Kannara" near Nishi-Sugamo intersection. I chose the "Half Ginseng Chicken Soup" for 1000 yen from the lunch menu. It becomes 1200 yen at night. The small restaurant was almost full even though I arrived shortly after the opening at 11:30 am. Two side dishes were complimentary. Rice was also included for free in the lunch set. The ginseng chicken soup had glutinous rice in it, so I didn't order rice last time, but this time, the owner who was serving alone in the restaurant brought it to me saying if I didn't need it, I could let him know. Like last time, the owner left condiments saying, "The ginseng chicken soup is lightly seasoned, so feel free to use them." I personally like lightly seasoned dishes, so I didn't use them. In the past, ginseng chicken soup used to cost around 3000 yen for a whole chicken at Korean restaurants in Shin-Okubo Koreatown, but later they started serving half portions for around 1000 to 1500 yen. Half portion is sufficient. The ginseng chicken soup here was delicious, and the white rice was particularly tasty. To be honest, there are hardly any Korean restaurants in Shin-Okubo or even in Korea that serve white rice that suits the taste of Japanese people. But here, it was delicious. As I was leaving, I received a set of three bags of Korean seaweed with eight sheets each as a gift. I was satisfied.

The first time I tried the chijimi, it was really delicious. It was chewy. It seems like the restaurant is not focused on barbecue, as the samgyupsal was on the smaller side. The kimchi tofu stew had just the right amount of spiciness, and there were many other menu items that caught my eye, so I would like to try more next time. The restaurant is run by a Korean couple, with the woman handling the cooking and the man taking care of the service. They kindly gave me some Korean cosmetics samples as a gift on my way out. They seem to be mindful of ventilation, as they frequently open and close the doors.

In early October 2020, I visited a newly opened Korean home cooking restaurant called "Hannara" for lunch in my local area. The restaurant is located near Nishi-Sugamo intersection. I arrived just before noon after running errands at the post office and bank. The lunch menu started at 11:30 am. When I peeked inside through the open entrance due to COVID-19 measures, I saw one customer inside. I asked if it was okay to enter and was welcomed in for my first visit. The restaurant had about 20 seats. I ordered the 1000 yen "Half Ginseng Chicken Soup" from the lunch menu. It came with two complimentary side dishes. The owner mentioned that the food was lightly seasoned, so they provided salt and pepper for seasoning if needed. I personally enjoy light flavors, so it was perfect for me. The chicken in the soup was substantial and comforting, especially as the weather was getting cooler. As I left, there were about six customers dining in. The owner mentioned that the restaurant opened in June this year, replacing a previous izakaya that had closed quickly. I hope the restaurant continues to thrive.

I got Yukgaejang soup and Kimbap for takeout! The soup was piping hot and I was very happy that I could take it home. The packaging was also done very carefully, so I was able to bring it home without any leaks! The Yukgaejang had a spiciness and richness that made me feel like I was enjoying it in Korea, satisfying my craving for Korean cuisine! The staff were also very polite and the Kimbap was delicious as well, so I definitely want to visit again! I know it's tough during the pandemic, but keep up the good work!

It's really delicious. The Sundubu has a strong taste of seafood and beef broth. It goes well with rice. I have been to the restaurant before but it's always crowded. Next time, I might try Samgyetang or Jjigae. Thank you for the meal.
