I have started a gourmet website for Mitomi Emon. Homepage "https://blog.33inc.jp/" Instagram "@mitomi_emon" This time, let me introduce you to the udon restaurant "Menchirashi" in Harajuku. The name is read as "menchirashi," but it is derived from the traditional Japanese tattoo design "menshira" which means scattering masks such as hannya, oni, and tengu. The artistic orientation is evident not only in the name but also in the logo and interior of the restaurant. This is because the business is run by a creative agency and the producer is the owner of Delifashus, which gained popularity with unique fish burgers. It's no wonder that the place is stylish and conceptual. As a byproduct, the restaurant attracts a clientele that you wouldn't expect at an udon shop, with young people and women forming long lines every day. It's not uncommon to see young people taking selfies for Instagram. The location is in the so-called Urahara area, and it's hard to imagine there ever being lines for a meal in this area. There may have been lines for fashionable genres like hamburgers or sweets, but certainly not for an udon shop. Eating here is no longer just about the food; it has become part of fashion. Of course, creativity is most evident in the udon dishes. First, take a look at the silhouette of the famous "Carbonara." On top of the beautifully textured udon noodles, there is a sprinkling of powdery Pecorino Romano, along with hearty bacon and butter. The freshly made, freshly cut, freshly boiled noodles have a smooth and chewy texture. It feels like eating fresh pasta, and the way the noodles intertwine with the sauces is excellent. The strong saltiness of the Pecorino Romano enhances the rich umami of the meat, leaving your brain completely satisfied. The chef in charge of cooking honed his skills at the authentic udon restaurant "Shin." The one-dish menu is also extensive, with tempura and onigiri being popular choices. The enthusiastic and proactive service made me end up ordering more and more. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to a popular restaurant. There was a line from the opening. The restaurant had a good turnover rate, with plenty of seating available. The atmosphere was bright and stylish. There were about 4 people in the kitchen and 4 in the dining area. While waiting in line, I was asked for my order, but when I sat down, I was told that one of the tempura options was sold out. It was only the first round of orders and I was one of the first to be seated, so it was surprising that they were already sold out. I wish they had informed the dining area about unavailable items while we were waiting in line. Ultimately, the 3 tempura dishes I ordered arrived with one coming first, followed by another, and then a significant delay before the last one. The udon noodles I ordered were served first, but the noodles lacked firmness and the broth was not to my taste. It lacked depth and I didn't feel compelled to finish it. Perhaps this udon would be best enjoyed with a hot bowl of noodles topped with egg and soy sauce, or with a carbonara or kama-tama style. I think that would be the best match for this udon. I haven't tried it, but I believe it would have made a difference in my review. I would like to try this restaurant again, but be prepared for the long line.

Carbonara for ¥950 with mentaiko topping for ¥200. I arrived around 2 PM on a holiday and there were about 20 people lined up, but I was able to get in after about 30 minutes. The noodles were chewy and delicious. They recommended against ordering a large portion (around 350g), but I tried it anyway and couldn't finish it at all.

Fashionable udon restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and you can even upsize for free. The atmosphere was lively and stylish, although I had to wait in line under the scorching sun. (The high expectations due to the wait slightly lowered my overall rating, I apologize) I would like to give it another try when there's no line. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant has a fast turnover, so you don't have to wait long to be seated. The chewy noodles and refined broth make you want to eat even when in line. The stylish interior attracts a diverse clientele, including young people who enjoy dishes like carbonara udon. The staff is plentiful and provides excellent service, including to international customers with English menus available.

I went on a regular night. There was a line, but it moved quickly and I only waited for about 20 minutes. I had the Carbonara Udon. It looked beautiful, with fluffy powdered cheese on top, and it tasted delicious with a good aroma. Next time, I want to try the cold one.

I had some business in Jingumae/Omotesando and decided to stop by here on the way back. It was past 8 pm but the place was very crowded, so I had to wait in line for about 10 minutes before getting seated. However, the turnover was fast so I was seated sooner than expected! It seems like you have to place your order while waiting in line, so make sure all your group members are present before lining up! We ordered seasonal tempura, plum pork with grated daikon and chikuwa tempura topping, carbonara udon with mentaiko topping, and the original highball. It took about 15 minutes for the udon to arrive at our table. The udon had a great chewy texture and was delicious! The taste was fantastic, but it was a bit disappointing that the water didn't come, the tempura toppings came after the udon, and the alcohol arrived almost after we finished the udon, maybe because they were busy. Nevertheless, it's great to have such high-quality udon available in the Harajuku area until late at night! I would love to stop by again and try a different variety if I have the chance.

I thought I would have to wait a long time to get into the restaurant because it was so crowded on the weekend, but the inside was spacious and the turnover was fast, so I was able to get in sooner than I expected. The udon menu was extensive, and the butter udon was especially delicious. Not only the udon menu, but also the tempura menu had a variety of options, all of which were very tasty. It might be a bit hard to find since it's located a little off the main road, but being a storefront, it's not too inconvenient.

I got the number one spot by arriving one hour before opening on Saturday! The Carbonara-style kettle egg udon with Parmigiano Reggiano, butter, and bacon was delicious. The noodles were beautifully arranged, and the combination of cream, egg yolk, and sauce definitely gave it a Carbonara feel. It was really tasty.

Meiji Jingu-mae's next stop after the soba restaurant is definitely udon, haha. Located in front of the station is Menzan, the star of the udon scene. This time, I tried the meatball and carbonara udon for 950 yen, with an additional 100 yen for nori topping. I also couldn't resist ordering the beef bowl for 400 yen. The noodles were smooth and elegant, though as a Musashino udon lover, I wished they had a bit more chewiness. The udon came with a rich egg inside, which paired perfectly with the cheese. The beef bowl, on the other hand, had tender meat but lacked sauce, making it a bit dry. The highlight was the tempura-style pickled ginger on top. Can't wait to visit again!

I visited around 6:30 on a holiday and there was a line, but they take orders while you wait so the turnover is really good. The food came out quickly after being seated! The noodles were chewy with a good firmness, and I had the tempura over noodles which was really delicious. I definitely want to go back again.

I visited around noon to early evening on Sunday. There were about 10 people waiting in line. I looked at the menu and waited for about 30 minutes. It was hot, so I ordered the kashiwa tempura on rice. The large portion was free, so of course I got the large size haha. I also added shrimp tempura on top. My friend ordered the carbonara, which looked delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I have lived in Kagawa and have a strong feeling that I won't settle for mediocre udon. The firm and smooth noodles were delicious. I had the bukkake udon, which had a slightly sweet sauce. I personally prefer it with a bit more sudachi flavor. Overall, it was the only udon in Tokyo that I could finally approve of! (I may sound a bit condescending!)

Today's Poteranchi → [First] Carbonara Udon, but the traditional base of Kama-dama Udon is firmly preserved, this is the real taste, tempura might be a must, definitely worth a repeat. This udon shop has been featured on TV and I have passed by the front of the shop several times, always seeing a line. Today, I went prepared to wait in line, but when I arrived 20 minutes before opening, there were only 2 people in line. The menu was already out, and the staff took orders from those waiting before opening. By the time the shop opened, there were nearly 30 people in line. There were many types of udon, but I ordered the Kama-dama Udon Carbonara with mentaiko recommended as a topping. Additionally, I ordered tempura items separately, including squid tempura and shrimp tempura. The udon came with butter and a white fluffy topping. The white topping seemed like cheese, but without worrying, I mixed everything together vigorously. It seemed like there was an egg at the bottom, as the noodles turned yellow. The taste was more of a traditional Kama-dama Udon flavor rather than Carbonara, with a crisp soy sauce taste enveloped in a rich egg flavor. Furthermore, the addition of butter and cheese? created an extremely rich and flavorful taste, which was surprisingly delicious. Although this Carbonara variation may be off-putting for those who purely love udon, it is safe to eat as the taste is based on soy sauce and egg. The noodles were chewy and had a smooth texture, and when eaten with the sauce, it was absorbed into the stomach in one go. Adding the mentaiko topping halfway through enhanced the flavor even more, doubling the deliciousness. This topping is a must. And above all, the presence of tempura is significant. While the udon was delicious, the strong flavor could make you feel a bit tired, but eating the crispy, salty tempura as a palate cleanser reset the mouth, allowing you to enjoy the udon again with a fresh feeling. Today, I chose squid tempura and shrimp tempura, but there were also limited options like okra and asparagus, which I refrained from ordering due to cost, but I should have tried them. The interior of the shop had a counter and tables for two, with seating for nearly 30 people. After finishing my meal and leaving the shop, there were about 20 people in line. The timing of when you go is really important. Meiji Jingu-mae Men San Kama Tama Udon Carbonara Topping → Mentaiko, Squid Tempura, Shrimp Tempura 1,700 yen. #Poteranchi #Today's Lunch #Today's Gourmet #Today's Meal #Today's Lunch #Connect with Gourmet Lovers #Gourmetstagram #Connect with Gourmet People #Connect with Lunch Lovers #Food Terrorism #Foodstagram #Eat Star #Eatstagram #Tokyo Lunch #Tokyo Gourmet #Omotesando Lunch #Omotesando Gourmet #Meiji Jingu-mae Gourmet #Meiji Jingu-mae Lunch #Harajuku Gourmet #Harajuku Lunch #Udon Shop #Udon Lover #Connect with Udon Lovers #Connect with Udon Lovers #Love Udon #Kama-dama Udon #Carbonara Udon #Men San

On Saturday around 3pm, I visited the restaurant. Although it was not during the lunch peak time, there were about 4 groups of 10 people waiting in line. I waited for about 20 minutes before entering. The interior of the restaurant was spacious and clean, with cheerful and energetic staff. The recommended dish was carbonara udon, but due to the scorching 34-degree heat that day, I ordered refreshing grated udon (cold) with summer vegetable tempura (corn and water eggplant). The noodles were firm and chewy, and they tasted very delicious when mixed with grated daikon. The tempura had a crispy coating that was impressive and paired well with the udon. When it comes to udon in Omotesando, I think this restaurant is the place to go.

I am a university student in Tokyo!! Today, I want to introduce you to a must-try delicious udon in Harajuku! Just a 2-minute walk from Meijijingumae Station is Menzan! They make their udon from scratch and have a wide variety of menu options! The most popular item is the Carbonara Udon, which I ordered. It comes with free extra noodles, thick-cut bacon, cheese, and looks amazing! Mix it all together with a raw egg and enjoy it heartily! I can't even find the words to describe how good it is! They also have a variety of toppings for you to try, but I highly recommend the spicy cod roe topping! And to top it off, add some tempura egg! Everything here is amazing, so you have to try it! Check out my Instagram for more: university__food and TikTok: university student gourmet.

Born in Western Japan and a fan of firm Sanuki udon noodles, I had high expectations when visiting this place known for serving freshly boiled noodles with a firm texture. I ordered the Kama Tamago Carbonara with added nori seaweed topping for 1,150 yen. It reminded me of Maruka's Calpis Butter Udon, but here the cheese and soy sauce flavors were more prominent than the broth, which was slightly different from my preference. However, mixing in the fluffy cheese with nori seaweed and sesame halfway through gave the dish a balanced and Japanese-style carbonara-like flavor that I really enjoyed. The ability to customize the taste using the various condiments on the table was also a great feature, with options like sesame seeds and yuzu vinegar available. The standout aspects of this place were the excellent customer service and the unique interior design. The staff were friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made me want to come back. The interior design seemed to blend different cultural influences, giving off a cool and eclectic vibe that felt like a glimpse of "Cool Japan" from the outside. Overall, I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Waited about 20-25 minutes to enter the restaurant. It was nice that they took our order in advance, so we could eat right away after being seated. The tempura was light and delicious, definitely worth ordering. There were many foreign customers. I didn't really understand why there was such a long line, but the food was tasty.

On my way home after work, I rarely do this but I decided to take a stroll down Omotesando. It's not something an old man like me usually does, but walking around led me to discover a nice little shop. This shop has a Japanese atmosphere with a futuristic touch, almost like something out of Blade Runner. They have a counter for serving udon and a separate counter for tempura. There are also table seats available. You can see the artisans making udon in a booth, and the udon they make has a refreshing texture that pairs perfectly with the plum sauce. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
