Lunch plate at Jonathan's. This menu includes a salad, mini hamburger, egg, and garlic rice all on one plate. It's like a grown-up version of a kids' lunch. Add a drink bar to make it a luxurious "adult lunch."

Jonathan's daily lunch is better than the daily lunch at Gusto, about the equivalent of 3 shumai dumplings. The serving robot brings it to the table, but I have to stand up and transfer it to the table myself, so it's a bit of a hassle (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

At 7:30 in the morning, I went to Jonathan Kamiigusa for breakfast. The parking lot is shared with the neighboring Bamiyan restaurant, located behind the store. The interior has a renewed feel with Jonathan's signature colored sofas and chairs that vary in color and shape, giving a sense of luxury. I ordered the Crispy Cabbage Ham and Egg Sandwich Morning, which had increased in price to 879 yen. It was served with fried potatoes and the sandwich was voluminous with a delicious lemon mayonnaise coleslaw. The Coleslaw was so tasty that I even used the ketchup meant for the fries on it. I had to take one sandwich home to consider the calories. For drinks, I had my favorite Elegant Earl Grey tea and a healthy vegetable and fruit mix soup for lunch. The seasonal coffee had a subtle aroma and a good balance of sweetness and bitterness. I ended the meal with a refreshing Kiwi juice. Overall, I spent a relaxing 1 hour and 40 minutes enjoying my meal.

This chain restaurant, compared to the recent visit to a fellow gastropub, may not be accurately described as contemporary, but it feels somewhat trendy using the same ingredients. This chicken dish also seems to be inspired by a current trend. It is crispy, spicy, and juicy. They even offer a choice between thigh and breast meat. As a thigh fan, I opted for that, but those on a healthy diet or looking to explore the true taste may prefer the breast option. I enjoyed gulping down the iced tea from the drink bar. It's surprisingly delicious.

Jonathan's morning visit. The drink bar at Gusto, part of the Skylark Group, offers a wide variety of options. The chairs and sofas inside the restaurant have a nice touch. The morning set prices feel quite reasonable. The hot sandwiches are satisfying for breakfast. The dressing for the Jonathan salad is truly delicious. It's worth ordering extra. Thank you for the meal.

I was drawn to the menu offering of Morioka Reimen (cold noodles) in Tom Yum Kung style, so I decided to order it right away. The origin story of Morioka Reimen, stemming from Pyongyang Cold Noodles, is quite intriguing, but what caught my attention was how Jonathan fused the cold noodles with the Thai soup Tom Yum Kung. The spiciness of the coriander and Tom Yum Kung exceeded the typical family restaurant's level, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a chance encounter, but it turned out to be an experience that exceeded my expectations.

This morning, I had breakfast at the unusual Jonathan restaurant in Ishigami. The interior of the restaurant is bright, with white on top and a light brown on the bottom. I ordered the Ham and Cheese Sandwich Morning set for 454 yen, tax included. It was served in 10 minutes. The set included a ham and cheese toast sandwich with fried potatoes and a drink bar. I liked putting ketchup on the ham with the fried potatoes. The drink bar had a vegetable and fruit mix. I also had the lunch soup with the sandwich. For my favorite part, I had the Elegant Earl Grey tea. Jonathan's unlimited tea leaves are a great feature. Lastly, I had Assam milk tea. I really enjoy the unique bold flavor of Assam tea. Thank you for the meal!

This morning on my day off, I visited Jonathan's, located along the Shinsoubudou-dori downhill lane and connected to Bamiyan. The store opens at 6 a.m. and has a spacious parking lot behind the store. The building is a single-story structure. The highlight of today's light morning meal was the half-cooked sunny-side-up eggs. Eggs just have to be like this. Today's coffee was Kilimanjaro, which is to my liking with a sharp acidity and a crisp taste. The second cup was Darjeeling tea, fragrant with a slightly astringent and deep flavor typical of good black tea. I finished with a juice made from vegetables and fruits. Thank you for the meal!

It's a precious restaurant where families can sit comfortably. Family restaurants are really great, after all.

I arrived at Jonathan Kamiishigami store to eat dessert. I had the Japanese strawberry and matcha parfait for 755 yen, and the drink bar for 323 yen, totaling 1078 yen. The parfait had Japanese strawberries, Tokachi red beans, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), matcha warabi mochi, whipped cream, strawberry sauce, matcha ice cream, soft serve ice cream, and strawberry jelly. Overall, the top part was delicious, but the bottom part with the jelly was too sweet. It's a bit pricey for Jonathan, not as cheap as family restaurants, so they should try harder.

14:45 Arrived at Jonathan Kami-Igusa store. Ordered Low-carb Vanilla Ice Cream Cake for 431 yen including tax. Also ordered the drink bar set for 292 yen including tax. The menu for the Vanilla Ice Cream Cake states: "An ice cream cake with a mild sweetness. It has a creamy texture with a vanilla flavor." This... was not delicious. Maybe it's because it's low in carbohydrates. I usually think that Jonathan's desserts are of high quality, but this one was disappointing. The drink bar is well-stocked, better than Saizeriya. However, if you just get the drink bar alone, it's quite expensive, around 400 yen. I remember at Saizeriya it was around 270 yen for the drink bar alone. At the Denney's in front of Oizumi Gakuen Station, the refillable hot coffee was only 230 yen. Jonathan has become an expensive restaurant.

Arrived at "Jonathan Kamiishigami Ikebukuro Store" today, I was planning to relax and read a book while smoking a cigarette.
Black sesame soft serve - 398 yen
Drink bar set - 291 yen
Total - 689 yen
I was debating whether to use it for a parfait, but I chose this low-calorie option. It's delicious and even has white dumplings in it.
Jonathan is excellent for its drink bar, with vegetable juice available. I drank a lot of vegetable juice.
The air conditioning is nice, but it's a bit too cold for me. It's so cold that it's hard to concentrate on reading.
I think Jonathan is excellent as a family restaurant. I would rate it a 3 out of 5.
Family restaurants are evolving!

Lunch outing destination. Next to the Skylark Brothers' Bamiyan, with a shared parking lot. The name sounds impressive, but the quality and quantity of the food, hmm. The pork ginger and horse mackerel with shiso fry & chicken dumplings in sweet vinegar sauce + multigrain rice + drink bar for 884 yen. The ginger pork was dry and the horse mackerel fry was like a hard business card. The chicken dumplings were tough. I only ate them to survive. The multigrain rice was delicious. The self-serve coffee was also good. Hang in there, Jonathan!

Last night, we came across a TV show comparing the cuisine of Taimeiken and Jonasan, so we decided to check it out with my family. The target dishes were beef stew, omurice, crab spaghetti (forgot the official name), and cold pumpkin soup. The soup was delicious, a great reference point for us is Aoyama Maisen. At 250 yen, it's half the price of Maisen, but still valuable and tasty with a good portion size. The spaghetti was comparable to the frozen sauce sold at the co-op, decent but not quite al dente. The omurice was elegant but lacked a punch - maybe adding some pepper would help. The omelette part really depends on the cook's skill, and this time it was just okay. The demiglace sauce was more suited for the masses, which I personally liked. The beef stew part was decent, but maybe calling it beef stew is a stretch. Being inspired by a TV show and given the opportunity to try these dishes was much appreciated. PS: The corn dressing for some salads is an interesting choice, give it a try.

The daily special Japanese meal with a drink bar costs 996 yen excluding tax. The menu changes depending on the day of the week. Today's dish was tsukune burger. It's a low-calorie healthy Japanese meal, but it looks a bit plain. The taste is, well, just average. The price of 1,000 yen might be a bit high for this. If you can stay longer, the drink bar is included so it might be worth it. They also have a regular daily lunch menu which might be a bit more cost-effective. I've been using Jonathan's more often since coming to the Kanto region, but I haven't found any standout dishes yet. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like any other family restaurant. There's really nothing that sets it apart from other places. And the staff are just average. It's a bit disappointing.

On March 26, 2021, Friday, around 6:30 PM, we received our order for dinner to enjoy as a couple. The visit was at a place with parking available and shared with Bamiyan, non-smoking, and credit card payment accepted. We knew Jonathan, and in the past, their takeout roast chicken was a great deal, but now it seems to be only available in-store. So, we decided to try out different items this time. In the morning, my wife and I discussed what to have for dinner. We decided to have a Jonathan party after a long time. We ordered the following items from the Skairaku website for takeout: Calamari Fritters for 270 yen, a mountain of potatoes for 431 yen, grilled White God Abalone mushrooms from Akita Prefecture for 539 yen, and Cajun Fried Chicken (4 pieces) for 755 yen. We picked up our order on the way home from work and started the party at home. We toasted with beer and found the Cajun Chicken to have just the right amount of spiciness. While roast chicken is the usual go-to for takeout from Skairaku restaurants, the Cajun Chicken was also delicious. The grilled Abalone mushrooms were thick and satisfying, and the mountain of potatoes was a stable choice. The Calamari Fry was tasty, but I realized my wife doesn't eat squid much, so I ended up enjoying it all by myself. We watched a recorded episode of "Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo" while eating, and the lead actor is handsome, isn't he? Nagase Tomoya's acting is really good. I remember going to see the movie "Ninkyo Helper" alone. It was a feast of fried foods, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, I wonder what to drink with alcohol... If you're looking for a convenient takeout option, how about trying Skairaku Group's takeout service? It's convenient. We prefer picking up our orders directly from the restaurant rather than using Uber Eats or Demae-can. I'm sure the delivery service would be just as delicious. Thank you for the meal.

14:30 Arrived at Jonathan Kami-Igusa with a coupon. I can eat a chocolate banana parfait for only 215 yen including tax. This is cheap, so I decided to try it. About 20 years ago, I used to work part-time at Jonathan. The taste has improved a lot since then. I usually eat parfaits at family restaurants, but I think Jonathan's yogurt parfait is delicious.
