(Recorded on 2022/08/28) I visited this place in the late afternoon of a holiday in late July 2022. On this day, I planned to return to Haneda on a flight departing at 8:00 PM, and during the day, I toured the areas of Monbetsu and Kitami. Around 5:00 PM in the evening, I was looking for a place to have a light meal near Abashiri, but it was a tricky time, and there were few options for a "light meal." I remembered the delicious ramen I had visited before at "Ramen Darumaya Abashiri Branch," so I thought about revisiting it. However, since it was a rare opportunity, I decided to try this new place.
<Where is the restaurant?> The restaurant is located in a residential area about a 15-minute drive from Abashiri Station. Although I left everything to the navigation system this time, there are various ways to get there. If you are coming from Abashiri Station, you can take Route 683, or if you are coming from Keidai Station, you can take Route 490. Turn left at the park (Shiomidai Green Area) and proceed about 200 meters. The restaurant will be on your left. There are six parking spaces in front of the store, so you can use them if you come by car.
<Crowd situation and interior of the restaurant> It was a weekend, but since it was after 5:00 PM, it was not crowded at all, and I could enter smoothly. It seems that the store opened in 2017, and the interior is modern and stylish. The interior of the store, which has a capacity of about 20 people in total, consists of about 6 counter seats, 4 tables for four people, and 2 tables for about 6 people. There were two groups of customers already inside. After that, only one person came in. It seems that it won't be crowded even on weekends if you come early.
<Recommended menu> As the name of the restaurant suggests, they specialize in anchovy ramen. I ordered the simple "Anchovy Ramen (800 yen)." My companion hesitated between tsukemen and other options due to the heat, but ultimately chose the "Pork Fat Ramen (850 yen)." In addition to ramen such as spicy ramen and abura soba, there are also a wide variety of toppings and rice dishes available. Orders are placed using a ticket machine at the entrance of the store.
<Summary> I tried the anchovy ramen at this "Anchovy Ramen Specialty Store" in Hokkaido, Abashiri. It's getting close to being good, but it feels like it needs a little more refinement. The clear anchovy soup itself is not bad, with a clear taste, but it still retains a slight bitterness and astringency of the anchovy, which I personally feel could be improved by removing some of the roughness. However, for those who enjoy this wildness and the taste of the generous layer of oil on the surface of the soup, it might be a hit. On the other hand, the soup of the pork fat ramen is surprisingly easy to drink despite its appearance, and it has a substantial volume, making it a taste that would appeal to everyone. I arrived around 5:00 PM on a holiday evening, and the chashu was sold out, which surprised me. But seeing its size and volume, I understood why. Next time, I want to try the anchovy tsukemen with chashu topping. You can check the detailed information on the following blog: [link]
