My long-awaited visit to SOMA has finally come true. I got off at Nakatsu Station in Osaka and walked for about 6 minutes. I've tried coming here multiple times, but timing never worked out, with them either closed or on a day off. Today, I arrived before opening and waited in the shade of the park in front of the restaurant. The "Open" sign came out around 11:47, and I was the first to enter. I placed my order and paid in advance. They have Chicken Keema by default and allow you to choose two other curries. I went with a meat curry and selected Mutton from the five available options. The second choice was Tomato Curry. They offer a spice level from 0 (mild) to 3 (spicy), and I chose 2. As I sat down, more and more customers arrived. It's common for all restaurants to fill up quickly once I enter. While waiting for my curry, a mysterious background music filled the air inside the restaurant, seeping into my senses. It sounded like being in a large botanical garden or a jungle. There are many plants inside, and the music is generated by the life energy of these plants, called Moirage Synth. It's incredibly soothing. And here it is, SOMA's curry. The Spice Curry. It's a famous spice curry in Osaka, known since around 2016-2017 when I started chasing Osaka's spice curries. Finally, I could taste it. I scooped up a spoonful, drawn by the alluring aroma emanating from the wild-looking plate. Mmm! This is it, Osaka's spice curry! It reaffirmed that spice curry is truly Osaka's cuisine. Whether it's Chicken Keema, Mutton, or Tomato Curry, each has its unique characteristics that captivate you from the core. But they all let the individual ingredients shine. As I kept eating, they melded together. The more they mixed, the more the mutton's flavor asserted itself. I love curries that bring out the umami as you chew. As everything blended and formed a new universe, the mutton's umami kept bubbling up endlessly. Ah, it was so delicious! Congratulations! This marks my 99th curry restaurant on the journey to visit the Tabelog Curry Top 100 in 2022. Only one more to go.
