- 1/29 Visiting - To celebrate my uncle and aunt's 50th wedding anniversary, we visited "Tsuruga Resort Spa Mizu no Uta," recommended by my cousin. On the way, we had a soba lunch at the shallow "Soba Tetsu," and arrived a little after 2 pm. After entering our room and dressing warmly, we headed to the venue for the ongoing "Ice and Wave Festival." Since it was a weekday, the weather was clear, and there were few people, so we enjoyed the view leisurely. After about an hour, we returned to the hotel and went to the large communal bath. The men's bath was almost empty, just my uncle and me (laughs), while I heard that the women's bath was crowded. By the way, we used the open-air bath in our room in the morning. For dinner, we had a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal at the separate building called "Ryotei Chaya Ten no Uta Tarumae no Ma." It started with an appetizer, followed by a series of delicious dishes! The assortment of 15 vegetables in the appetizer was creatively presented and paired perfectly with beer. The Mizunara chicken (from Atsuma) in simmered soup was creamy, and the sashimi of "Honmaguro (bluefin tuna), Hirame (flounder), Uni (sea urchin), Hokkigai (surf clam), and Yariika (spear squid)" paired beautifully with cold sake (laughs). The grilled dishes and chawanmushi (savory egg custard) were also delicious. However, despite expressing my preferences, I couldn't quite enjoy the roast of Furano Wagyu beef, so I left it after just one bite (bitter smile). The Wakasagi (smelt fish) from Lake Abashiri served as a complimentary dish was delicious. The anago (conger eel) rice was tasty, but the red miso soup served with it didn't quite suit my taste as a Hokkaido native (^_^;) While enjoying the yuzu mousse for dessert, coffee was served unexpectedly. The service provided by the female staff during the meal was excellent. They even looked up the origin of the cute glass sake cup and the thin plastic beer glass for me. In the end, we spent about three hours there. For breakfast the next morning, it seemed to be a buffet style, but I enjoyed it alone in the open-air bath in my room while sipping beer (laughs). Come to think of it, I didn't ask for everyone's impressions (bitter smile). We checked out a little before 11 o'clock, but I thought the service at this hotel was truly exceptional. I'd like to come again next time with my uncle and aunt (laughs). After all, I only spent money on canned beer from the vending machine in the hotel (*´艸`*). So, I'll refrain from giving a score for cost performance (^_^;).
