"2014.08 New Review & 4 Photos" Izumiya Shiraumemachi Store's sushi corner offers a variety of sushi, including maki sushi, pressed sushi, chirashi sushi, inari sushi, and decorative Kyoto-style sushi. They have nigiri sushi as well, but it's not as suitable for taking home because it doesn't keep well at room temperature. That's why I prefer the decorative and Kyoto-style sushi. The sushi corner at Izumiya Shiraumemachi Store has a great display that really stimulates your desire to buy. For example, when you see a colorful assorted sushi pack, you can't help but think, "I want to eat that!" Then, your eyes quickly move to the price tag, and you react with, "Looks delicious! And it's affordable!" It's so easy to end up buying something. In a way, it's like the sushi is brainwashing you, creating a great atmosphere.
At the Izumiya sushi corner, there's also a great service. They offer large plate assortments that aren't displayed on the shelves. This time, I got an assortment of various rolled sushi equivalent to about six rolls of medium-sized sushi for around 1,600 yen per plate (as shown in the photos). The contents and prices may vary depending on the assortment container (last year's round plate was around 2,500 yen), but you can request your preferred sushi to some extent, making it an affordable and value-for-money option. I found out about this service by chance when I was buying sushi individually, and I mentioned to the staff, "It would be convenient if you had large plate assortments, right?" They replied, "We can do that! However, it's only available for pre-orders!" I was a little surprised that such a service existed! (@_@) The taste is at the level of deli sushi, but considering the price and content, it's a reasonable option for deli sushi. Until then, when we had gatherings or people coming over for a meal, we used to buy sushi from takeout or delivery sushi places like Chazuki or Gin no Sara. It was quite expensive for the taste it offered. Well, they advertise themselves like authentic sushi, but it's not that impressive. I always felt like I was eating sushi with low satisfaction while thinking about it. However, after discovering this service at Izumiya, I stopped using those takeout and delivery sushi places. The taste might not be exceptional, but it's more affordable compared to authentic sushi restaurants. Izumiya's supermarket large plate sushi is a cost-effective option, especially if you know the date and number of people in advance. I think this service might be available not only at the Shiraumemachi store but also at other Izumiya stores. Maybe other supermarkets offer it too? ^^? With some clever use of supermarket sushi packs, you can transform them into a luxurious large plate sushi, making them the centerpiece of your party. The next time my friends gather, I plan to use Izumiya's supermarket large plate sushi. My rating from the visit in August 2013 (No ratings were given in the original post): Overall: 3.5, Food: 3.4, Service: 4.0, Atmosphere: 3.3, Value for Money: 3.8, Drinks: 3.7
