从Kasuga Shrine in Saiin to Sanjo Bridge, I walked. Before witnessing the Night Crossing Ritual at Awata Shrine and the Otoyo Procession, I decided to grab a bite to eat. I headed to Chikara Mochi Shokudo, which is located somewhere between Sanjo Street and Shijo Street. I found this place on Tabelog, and it's described as a nostalgic "Showa-era eatery." When I entered the restaurant, there were no other customers, and it was quite empty. Later, I learned that I had arrived around 3:30 PM, and they were about to close at 4:00 PM.
I wanted to have something curry-related, so I ordered the "Age Curry Don (780 yen including tax)." The dish arrived quickly. The aroma of the Japanese-style curry from the bowl in front of me was delightful—slightly rich and thick curry roux. The fried chicken and green onions complemented it well. It had a flavor that allowed you to enjoy both the dashi-based soba broth and the curry. It might not be popular among young people, but personally, I found it tastier than most trendy places with long lines!
