"サクッジュワ〜ッ! Enjoying the authentic beef tongue at "Gyutan Keisuke" in Kyoto Station. Tonight, it's all about beef tongue and meat! This is a specialized beef tongue restaurant with branches mainly in Tokyo. Conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, or should I say, right next to the No. 1 exit from the underground to the 5th floor of a building! The restaurant has a unique style where you take an elevator to the 4th floor first, complete the reception, and then use the stairs to go up. Inside the restaurant, there are private rooms separated by doors with a traditional Japanese atmosphere. There are rooms of various sizes, making it suitable for different group sizes. The room we were guided to was quite spacious. The menu is presented in a booklet. It offers a wide range of options, from the main beef tongue to appetizers, salads, grilled items, fried items, hot pots, and desserts. Let's explore the menu a bit! (Details are at the bottom of the article). Kyoto beer, each ¥750. Let's start with a toast - I chose the Kyoto Alt beer among the three options. It's rich and delicious. Appetizer, ¥430. It's unusual to have sashimi as an appetizer. There are three types: tuna, amberjack, and scallops. They're actually quite delicious, not bad at all. Beef Tongue Chorogi Salad, ¥780. Let's begin with some vegetables, but beef tongue is included too! It's crispy and juicy! Although it's thinly sliced, it has a strong presence. The lettuce is crispy, the green onions are crunchy, and the garlic and sesame oil add fragrance. It's more like a salad that goes well with drinks than a typical salad (laughs). I couldn't stop eating it! Iburigakko Cheese, ¥480. Cream cheese mixed with smoked iburigakko. I love this! The smoky aroma and umami of iburigakko complement the creamy mellowness of the cream cheese perfectly. Whoever came up with this idea, who are you?! (laughs) Kinkasa Mackerel, seared mackerel, ¥880. It's super thick and meaty! Melts in your mouth! Delicious! Authentic Sendai Beef Tongue, grilled, ¥1780 (1.5 servings). Let's get to the main course. It's the restaurant's signature dish. Delicious! It's seasoned with salt as a base, so let's start with that. Crispy on the outside, with a satisfying chewiness and tenderness when you bite into it! The more you chew, the more the flavor overflows! So tasty!! They use the traditional Sendai method and age it for three weeks, so the flavor is concentrated and there's a consistent texture throughout. This is a texture and flavor that you can't get in regular yakiniku! Truly their specialty! After eating it as is, you can enjoy it with spicy nanban miso. I'm starting to crave rice now... I'll resist (laughs). Togouchi Highball, ¥, Beef Tongue Katsu, ¥780. Continuing with beef tongue, but this time it's deep-fried. It's like tonkatsu but not, it's definitely beef tongue. The double crunch of the crispy coating and the crispy beef tongue is delightful. Beef tongue is delicious whether it's grilled or fried! Ra-yu Tatakii Kyuri, spicy cucumber with chili oil, ¥380. A refreshing dish to take a little break. Pickle Assortment, ¥480. It includes Chinese cabbage, turnips, eggplants, and shibazuke (pickled vegetables). Not bad at all. Next up is the Japanese beef grilled over charcoal. Pairing it with red wine, ¥, Domestic Beef Ichibo, ¥1480. Beautiful meat! It's nicely grilled with a crispy exterior and rare center. Incredibly juicy! The rich marbling is so good! Delicious! Domestic Beef Marushin, ¥1480. This one is also grilled to perfection. It's light and delicate, but it still captures the essence of the beef. Delicious! Both of them are way beyond the level of typical izakaya (Japanese pub) dishes. Excellent. Mugi-Toro Gohan and Tail Soup, ¥580. Time for some rice to finish the meal. In hindsight, I should have ordered it with the beef tongue grill... The barley rice and tororo (grated yam) with the tail soup. The beef tongue is smaller than I expected, but its tenderness is unique, different from both the grilled and fried versions. It practically melts in your mouth. And the deep flavor of the soup that has absorbed all the goodness of the beef. It's deeply satisfying. Tail Soup Zosui, ¥680. It's similar to the previous dish (laughs). The rice soaked up the flavor and became fluffy. It's perfect as a finishing touch. Uji Matcha Ice Cream and Kinako Warabimochi, ¥480. A Kyoto-style ending with matcha ice cream and warabimochi. Thank you for the meal! Whether it's the main beef tongue or the other meat dishes, everything was satisfying! Even though it was a weekday, there were customers ==========
