"Om's Narrow Road" Series - In Sun Hamana, I had a special Omurice, then aimed for Takase in Higashi-Ikebukuro, but unfortunately, it was under renovation. So, I headed here instead. It's a restaurant that follows the legacy of Toho Parlor from the mid-Showa era, and you can enjoy Western cuisine based on its recipe. I visited at 12:10.
I was seated at a four-person table, glanced at the menu, and locked onto my target: "Tomato Sauce Omurice (930 yen + tax)." I ordered it because I had Demi-Omu earlier, so I went for a different type.
The interior of the restaurant was calm, open, clean, and had a touch of luxury. The music playing was somewhat upbeat. The customers were older than me, creating a relaxed atmosphere, making it a comfortable place to be.
It was completed in 10 minutes. Wow, it's beautiful! It's a fluffy and creamy omelette on top. The shape is like a spread-out omelette, very appealing.
Now, the rice was richly colored and had a bouillon-like umami. It had a slightly tangy and chewy finish, with some uneven coloring. The tomato sauce on top was light, with a refreshing acidity. The ingredients included chicken and onions, not very impactful, but just the right amount. The fluffy and creamy texture of the eggs was exquisite, and I couldn't even find the egg liquid. Well done! Its richness acted as a bridge between the rice and sauce.
I finished it in one go. The portion size was normal. Despite some uneven coloring on the rice, the eggs absorbed the acidity of the rice and sauce well. It left the impression of a well-balanced and reliable Omurice.
Considering the location, atmosphere, price, and this Omurice, I think the cost performance is not bad. I don't mind a bit of conversation in a place with this atmosphere, but it was a bit annoying to have it right next to where I was sitting with Mr. Kawai. If they had seated them further away, it would have been better.
They filled up my water appropriately. The bill was 1,023 yen. Well, I'm full now. Time to go home.
