"Namaste Tokyo Kichijoji Branch [Sad Nepal Was Delicious] 2021 Curry 18 Shops 32 Meals 2021.1.25 ■ Dinner Set Curry 1 Type ¥1,200 ▷ Choose Himalayan Soup Curry (the only Nepalese curry menu) ▶ Cheese Naan +¥280 ▷ Salad ▷ Lassi I originally wanted to try the 'Nepalese Curry Udon' that I found in a food blog. But now, it seems that menu is no longer available. They kept recommending the Nan & Curry dinner set. I asked if there was any Nepalese cuisine, and they told me that the only Nepalese curry they have is the Himalayan Soup Curry. So, I ordered the Himalayan Soup Curry and Cheese Naan, which seemed like an oddly unbalanced menu, but it was actually very delicious. Yes, this Himalayan Soup Curry is indeed a Nepalese twist on Indian curry, with the garlic and ginger added towards the end, bringing out a deep, savory flavor. It felt like a thin, flowing Rogan Josh in terms of taste. In short, it was very delicious. Now, I'd like to conclude on a happy note, but I couldn't. I talked to the staff. They said that Japanese people never order Nepalese food, so all the Nepalese menu items have disappeared. Therefore, they reluctantly make Indian-style Nan & Curry based on Japanese preconceptions. It's like Chinese people making fake Japanese food in New York. Japanese people who believe that Nan & Curry are authentic Indian cuisine have never had the opportunity to realize that it's a huge misconception created by their own preconceptions. Is it because of Japan's education system that they remain so unaware, even though a country with ten times the population has ten times the food culture? It's a very closed society for such a small island nation. Most Indians living in Japan eat Nan for the first time when they come here. While most Indian restaurants in Japan are staffed by Nepalese, Nepalese staff have limited opportunities to make Nepalese cuisine, which is quite unfortunate. Not knowing is actually quite rude. Nepalese cuisine is delicious. Very delicious. But Japanese people don't let them make it. I really want to let Nepalese people make delicious Nepalese cuisine. I hope one day Nepalese cuisine will gain popularity among the general public. But it was delicious, so cheers! #GoogleMask #NamasteTokyo #Kichijoji #HimalayanSoupCurry"
